Regardless of a couple of good games, Martinez is paid enough to know deep down that Fellaini is still Fellaini. He found a bit of form at the World Cup, but the praise he received after the Brazil game was overblown; Belgium were run ragged in midfield for large parts of that game and should’ve conceded five or six.

But they won a game then probably didn’t deserve to and Fellaini made a few tackles and won a few headers...

He’s looked a far more accomplished and effective footballer for Belgium than he’s ever looked for us. I think he’s done well. Looked good against Brazil, arguably changed the game against Japan.

He’ll be back to his old self come August obviously, but as long as we only use him when we’re desperate that’s ok...

He's had an outstanding campaign for Belgium.

There are idiots out there who are citing Fellaini's selection as being advantageous to France. He is not the prime reason Belgium lost, they lost because as a collective they choked on the biggest stage.

Fellaini is Fellaini.

Never going to be great, never going to be loved.

But as a United squad player he offers more than lingard. Not much but enough to warrant his presence at least.

Plus, as a proper fan I will always want better, if not the best, but in the absence of that then whatever number of games herrera gets fellaini should get x3.

Also, Belgium going out tonight was certainly not down to him. That was down to France being slightly better on the day.

Would have made a good final, but now instead of the qualities of de bruyne, hazard and lukaku we will have to watch the likes of a spermling, lingard and Henderson.
