Yes it means giving something/someone more credit or hype than they deserve.

Croatia aren't even one of the traditional big teams and we still lost to them.

They’re a good footballing nation, the one that can best claim to have carried the flame of the nearly-great Yugoslav teams of yesteryear. Only lost to the eventual winners in 96, 98 and 2016 off the top of my head. Arguably the best midfield in this tournament, which is where they won it.

Tradition... history... look what Croatia did to Argentina this year.

I would think it meant saying someone IS BETTER than they actually are. Not sure that’s what happened here. I saw lots of people pleased with the squad’s attitude and togetherness, and of course enjoying going deep into a big tournament for the first time in years.

We all knew tonight would be close and, had we reached the final, we’d have been underdogs whether it had been France or Belgium (or Spain, Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Uruguay or Portugal).

Maybe they will be seen as one of the big teams after this tournament, although it's an ageing team that may regress from this point further and struggle to reach these heights for a while.

England really do remind me of Spurs. Haven't won the big one since the 60's, and can't presently get past a semi, and always go out to any big team they face.

So overrated it's not even funny. Beat Columbia and Sweden and suddenly it's coming home, Morons.
