Tahith Chong

He is not ready to be near the first team.

He has to play where he belongs, in the academy.

Technically, he's very good, tactically he understands the game and he understands his position, but by the physical point of view, when the game gets into contact situations, he's in trouble, he's fragile, he's still a kid.

He has the mentality, the passion and the personality.

But he is not for today, he is for tomorrow.

Cue another hugely talented youngster leaving, he's 18, he will want first team somewhere and i am sure they'll be queuing up

It is never too soon if you are good enough.

I agree. He’s not ready because he’s not good enough yet. Not strong enough, not intelligent enough. Needs more time and I think he will be happy to wait.

This.

I think for Chong, a full season for the Reserves will actually be perfect for him.

Any idea what contract we have him under? What we don't want is another Pogba scenario.

I was referring to some of the numbnuts on here not Jose. I have defended him on the issue of size on here more than any other poster.

Wasn't referring to you VC (unless you're referring to some comment I made that I've already forgotten making!).

No idea VC.

I've just had a look and couldn't find anything. He signed a professional contract when he arrived, but it doesn't look like the terms were made public.

VC, I looked back at the thread (5 hours is obviously longer than my memory can handle these days) and saw the comment.

Fair enough. I was disagreeing with Benji primarily. I can see you were acknowledging that there are senior players who are slight of build and not that Mourinho spurns any such players.

my point was that the only reason Jose gave for him being "quite away" from the first team is because he cant handle the rough and tumble. Jose's words not mine.

now if he means something else i am hoping hes communicated that to the player and his advisors because at face value the kid will look at the u23's and say im too big for these guys physically so if this guy isnt going to give me a turn for 3 years I am going to leave/

either way i am going to bookmark this and see how everyone feels come the end of the year. Kid couldve forced his way in like rashford, not made a single appearance or tried and failed.

i think if he doesnt play, when he gets to 19, he's gonna be looking around if he still cant handle the rough and tumble for the manager.

Why are you so convinced he's too big physically to play for the u23's?

Look at him, he's clearly still got the body of a kid and will need to develop physically quite a bit, add to that he's only played a handful of games at u23 level let alone any first team football and has had a serious injury not too long ago and it's clear the u23 football is ideal for him right now.
