O Brother, Where art thou?

Cutting it a bit fine,Otep. Hope you are OK are ready to take your rightful place at the helm of the Predictor.

Pre-season is now in the past. Thank goodness! A new season beckons with the arrival of Rochdale (pre-season played five, won five including Hull City and Middlesbrough) at the Pirelli for the first time since September 2015. A 24th minute goal from Stuart Beavon won the points for the Brewers, whose starting XI also included Damien McCrory and Lucas Akins. They are not the only potential survivors from the fixture as the visitors side included Matty Lund and Jamie Allen for the first 62 minutes before they were withdrawn n a double substitution. (n.b. post drafted before today's news of Lund’s departure to Scunthorpe!)
It was also 1-0 in August 2013 with an own goal giving us the points against 10 men after an early sending off. Clean sheet for Jordan Pickford. And McCrory. Lund got the full 90 for Rochdale, Allen watched from the bench.
3-2 on Boxing Day 2012 with Billy Kee 2 and Calvin Zola getting the Brewers goals. McCrory in the side even back then.
And another 1-0 in October 2009 with an early rare strike from Richard Walker in the first league season. The visitors side again included players that would later become Brewers with Nathan Stanton and Chris O’Grady starting the game and Marcus Holness joining as a substitute on the hour.
And how about October 1999 and a goalless draw in the first round of the F A Cup? There was a N Clough in the home midfield that day with A Garner listed as an unused sub.
1-0 seems to be a recurring theme so I will go for that as my first prediction of the season. (Come on, Otep, you know you want to!)
Watch for Ryan Delaney in the visitors line up. Didn’t make the first team here but had a very successful loan back to Ireland and came back with medals and Europa League experience. May feel that he has a point to prove!

Brewers on the Box. Thursday 2nd. Two England keepers on Burnley’s books but both injured so special dispensation to put the 4th choice on the bench for the Europa League qualifier against Aberdeen – Adam Legzdins.
Friday 3rd. EFL return s to Sky Sports. Derby at Reading and a late run from the bench for Mason Bennett. Match winning assist with 10 secs to go!

In the hope that Otep does run this again I will make my prediction. My confidence is fading and I'm feeling slightly apprehensive but I want to be optimistic for the first match, so I will go:-

Brewers 1 - Rochdale 0

like Steve and I will keep my fingers crossed. I'm looking forward to the new season, whatever happens.

Sorry chaps, not that enthusiastic about going to watch football at present. I think it might be the lovely weather which means that I simply just don't fancy going. I can find better things to do at present. Better things to spend my money on.

Football for me is like an addiction and a habit. I can go home and away week in, week out. At present I cannot summon up any enthusiasm at all.

I don't think I have missed a home when I have been in the UK for 10 years or more. Yet on Saturday there was never any danger of me attending. It was just not on the radar whatsoever. There was not a flicker of emotion at the final scoreline. In fact, I was just glad that I was not there.

I can and have taken the good times and the bad. I think that the Brewers are still punching above their weight in League 1.

It might be the weather that keeps me away. It might be a phase I am going through. However, I also feel like there is a black cloud hanging over the club. It might be my imagination though.

It follows that I will be unable to run a predictor this season.

I bet I will be back on the terrace in November, kicking every ball !

I know the feeling my good friend I went through a phase when we were in the conference. It was only about 4 games where I couldn't care less what the score was and I lost interest in the club as a whole.

I suddenly woke up one day and thought come on man pull yourself together this is your club and your way of life grasp it.

I have a fabulous bunch who I met there for donky's years and we have a pint or three after the game.

I have a feeling you will come back soon if you don't then I think the club have lost a top notch fan and we on here have lost a great guy on our forum.

Whatever you decide my good friend it's been great to know of you and thank you for some good banter over the years I have known you.GOOD LUCK FOR THE FUTURE OTEP HOPE LIFE TREATS YOU WELL.

Thanks Mr Emnez. I will return probably, but just not this season in terms of running a predictor.
