Leeds Utd v Sheffield Weds Matchday Thread

Here we go a grand Yorkshire Derby and a visit to Hillsborough, looking to put that slight hiccup behind us and get back to winning ways
but as they say "Theres no easy games in the Championship"

Venue...Hillsborough...Date...28th Sept...Kick Off 19:45hrs

Team News
Bielsa has stated he'll not be replacing any of last weeks team, but who knows he may make changes he could hand Adam Forshaw a first start this campaign, but Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe are unlikely to be fit. (Milner hasn't signed yet either )

Sheffield Weds
Gary Hooper and Sam Hutchinson remain on the sidelines for Sheffield Wednesday, but Jordan Thorniley could return from injury and Fernando Forestieri is available again after suspension.

Match facts
Sheffield Wednesday completed a league double over Leeds United last season for the first time since the 1959-60 campaign.
Leeds have not lost back-to-back away league visits to Hillsborough against Sheffield Wednesday since April 1965.
These sides have not shared a goalless draw in a league match since April 1969, with each of the last 40 meetings seeing at least one goal scored.
Sheffield Wednesday are currently enjoying a six-game unbeaten run on home soil (W4 D2) - they last went seven league games unbeaten at the Hillsborough Stadium in February 2017.
Since a run of 11 away league games without a victory between December 2017 and April 2018 (D3 L8), Leeds have gone four games without defeat on the road and remain the only unbeaten side away from home in the Championship (P4 W2 D2 L0).
Leeds will be glad Wednesday are without Gary Hooper. The striker, who will miss the Yorkshire derby after more than nine months out with a groin injury, has scored a brace in both of his Championship starts against United for the Owls.

Not an easy game, but one i think we can nick if MB has done his homework, I think Saiz is due a goal as is Pontus so i'm going 0-3 with Cooper, Alioski and Dallas getting the goals

Roberts in 19 years old and leading the attack on his own. Thought he was excellent in the second half running the channels with some intelligent play. Tried a few too many one-off layoffs in the first half. Think its very very harsh to say hes not good enough. Hes a great prospect.

Last word on Kalvin - lovely hold up play and clever passes down the line. We look like we can create - we need to look like we can finish. Boro and Baggies could easily drop points tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised to see us on top after the weekend.

Ran his heart, give you that Kebab but Roofe, who isn't an international, is a different class. I acknowledge that Roberts isn't an out and out striker which is even more worrying.
No surprise that goals have dropped off of late with Roberts.

Agreed Kebab. An in-form Roofe might have broken through, but Roberts certainly doesn't deserve to be slagged off.

From what I've seen of Roberts looks like we have a very exciting young attacker on our hands. Confident, good with the ball at his feet, good energy and thought he played well with back to goal against Birmingham.

People slag him off because he's not Roofe. He's 19 and hadn't been training as a striker until a few weeks ago.

Totally agree Lubo
Thought Roberts was very good tonight especially second half. He is improving every game and has loads of energy and the ability and strength to run the channels
Good prospect

Excellent prospect. Intelligent and full of energy and only 19. He’s still finding his feet after a long time out and us improving with every game. A bit more strength will come and then he’ll be top draw.

Alioski disappointing for me tonight. Can’t fault his energy but he needs to revise the offside rule.

He’s our THIRD choice striker and I thought he was alright. The goals seem to have given him an extra bit of strength and pace.

Like BPF he is young and will make silly errors, frustrating ones like poor control in the box.

The more he trains as a striker the better he will get 👍

Took Roofe 2 years to find his real form, Roberts is looking far better at this stage in LUFC career than Roofe did
