Irn Bru Cup Roundup

As most of you were distracted by international football, domestic football raged on and I think it's important that you're all aware of the countries favourite mickey mouse tournament, the Irn Bru Cup.

Well I say domestic....

Let's start with the non-Scottish teams. English side Sutton United crashed out on penalties to Bohemians after a nil-nil draw in front of 1,130 fans. Sutton of course were in the press last week lamenting their involvement in this tournament as it's costing them money, and they also lost out on a home game on 'national non-league day' or whatever they call it down south.

In another all non-Scottish tie in this Scottish tournament, Connah's Quay Nomads (apt) defeated Coleraine by two goals to nil. Coleraine had two players sent off within 3 second half minutes.

The other non-Scots team, Sligo Rovers, were defeated 2-0 by Motherwell's Colts team. This might interest our Old Firm fans as Motherwell's kids are single handedly helping the Old Firm get their kids teams into the league by actually winning games, unlike all the other Colt teams. St Mirren's colt team for example were dispatched 4-2 by Queens Park and this leaves Motherwell as the only Colt team left in the tournament.

In the other ties, Edinburgh City defeated Arbroath 4-1 in front of the Alba cameras, Ross County won 3-1 against Montrose, Alloa emerged victorious on penalties after a 2-2 draw with Dunfermline and East Fife beat Queen of the South 2-0.

The reality is that nobody cares though and if it wasn't for the fact I've not much work to do right now I'd not have bothered with this, but I felt it was important to once again highlight what an absolute shambles of a competition this is and that the recent changes should be scrapped.
