Forest V Brewers Cup Match Thread

This has banana skin written all over it; Clough Jnr is building a reputation for motivating his teams into giant killers where cup games are concerned.

Albion have got to this stage after wins against Burnley & Aston Villa and will be looking to pull off another upset tonight. Nigel likes a cup run, but he enjoys beating his old club's, both ourselves and Derby even more.

Liam Boyce in the no 27 shirt is the one to watch out for tonight, he's scored against both Burnley and Villa.

'THE Brewers secured Liam's services for a club record fee from Ross County in 2017 following a prolific two-year spell in the SPL that saw him score 48 goals in 99 appearances for the Staggies.

Boyce finished his last season in Scotland as the Premiership's top scorer with 23 goals before joining Albion - and Boyce recovered from a pre-season knee injury to notch his first Albion goal at Villa Park in a narrow 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa, scoring three goals in total including a memorable header at Sunderland.'
He has scored seven goals in all competitions so far this season.

Tonight's game is allticket and Burton are expecting a better gate than the 3,600 that turned up to watch their 1-2 defeat against the Posh.

Guessing the team that Karanka will put out is rather akin to trying to plat fog; I expect Steele to play between the sticks and a lot of players rested after Saturday. Murphy is still struggling with a virus and Fox is sidelined for three weeks with a foot ligament injury.

Last night we had 60% possession, more shots than Burton, more shots on target, and more corners.

I'm sure Stoopo and his friends will admit that Forest were by far the superior team, completely outplayed the opposition and deserved to go through to the next round.

Eh Stoopo?

Blades are flying high and we have been less than impressive at home.
Karanka needs to fire the team up for this. We need to dominate at home, rather than holding on and pressing from the back. Already mentioned that our midfield is easily bossed and pushed back. Need some steel in there - assumed Yacob had been brought in for that very purpose?! Also think we are missing a chance by not using Yates.

Have been advocating Bridcutt but he put himself to the back of the queue with that performance. Assume he will be offloaded in Jan now. Yates May have had the extra bit of bite and keenness that was required. Yacob certainly comes into the mix now. The last few performances have certainly lacked bite.

The problem is no reserve league; Karanka should fine the lot of em' a weeks wages, except Appiah and Grabban of course.

No Bear he should stop playing players who are not delivering enough on a regular basis.

Thing about Bridcutt was that he clearly knew he was having a bad game. Even so, he definitely wasn't the worst on the pitch.

I'd put Appiah on the bench for S Utd. He deserves his spot.

And Burton go and draw the only non Premier League club left in the cup ...... we could have had a chance at getting to the SEMI FINAL! We will not get promoted this season as the squad is clearly not good enough.

Squad is good enough if the manager and coaches are good enough.

Pants distribution needs sorting out.
Osborn should not play at LB ever again(I'd sooner have Iacovitti or whoever plays LB for U23s)
Hefele is all over the place when he plays (Foxy had a right go at him in the last home game)
Watson is coasting
The portugese need to be more robust and stand up to the physical challenges.
Not sure about 4-2-3-1

The Ansifarad saga might be coming to a conclusion. The deal is hopefully going to be done imminently. Could be in the nick of time considering how short of strikers Forest are currently. He should have been training and keeping fit whilst waiting so should be up to speed quickly.
