Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo says winger Diogo Jota will not be available for Saturday's game.

The Molineux side named the same starting line-up for their first nine league games this term before bringing in Adama Traore for Jota last weekend.

Tottenham's Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama have been ruled out through injury and are not expected to return until after the international break.

Spurs remain without defenders Danny Rose and Jan Vertonghen.

@SimonBrotherton: For Spurs it's a welcome chance to get away from the gridiron surface at Wembley and play on a decent pitch following their defeat at home to Manchester City on Monday.

They enjoyed a 3-1 win at West Ham in the League Cup during the week, but are likely to find Wolves to be more stubborn opponents at Molineux.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side don't concede many goals but don't score many either.

They managed to lose at Brighton last week despite being the better side and registering 25 attempts on goal. It's the first time they've lost successive games during his tenure and like Spurs they will be keen to get back to winning ways after making a strong start to the season.

VIEW FROM THE DUGOUT

Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo: "Tottenham are very competitive. What I admire is what I see on the pitch and I see a very good team.

"I know him [Mauricio Pochettino] and I admire him. The quality of the work they've been doing is amazing. The core of the squad, the amount of success they have had."

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: "I think we're so close to getting the last level, but we need to have that patience that makes us stronger.

"I think we're strong enough to sort out all the problems and arrive, and in the end to achieve what the club and fans deserve, and in the end all we want to achieve one day is to win trophies."

Reading about a good example of how new ownership can change a football club. Huddersfield go into tonight’s home game against Fulham having not scored in the Premier League in their last 7 home games. Only one team has ever gone 8 home games in the Premier League without scoring and that was back in 2007, Man City.

The Man City now bears no comparison to the club before the current owners took over. Maybe we will be able to look back at our history in a few years time and the dark days will be a distant memory

I hope you're right DJ. However, we have to be careful of the FFP rules, or whatever they're called now, whereas both Chelsea and Man City built their squads and spent vast sums of money before those rules were implemented for the 2011-12 season.

I hope we don't try to run before we can walk. Establish ourselves first, then we can expand, hopefully with a fan base that will have grown both in the UK and abroad.

No idea what point you are trying to make. Man City have spent almost £1b on transfers since 2011/12

FFP penalises the wrong teams, allowing the rich boys to flaunt the rules.
Hopefully we can now do the same (I won't hold my breath).

Ah we all know what the problem is here, the rolling three year percentage of turn over cap ya da ya da ya da....

Each season Fosun will have more reign to release more cash for players. The hope being that our Chinese and global profile and presence will also increase in addition to the revenue gained from just being in the Premier league.

Come 2020, we could well be attracting some of the worlds top players to Wolverhampton, but just for now we have to make do with just some of the best we've seen in our lifetimes.

Not sure it matters if we run before we walk to be honest, what can go wrong if we do that?

posted on 5/11/18

We are not one of the big boys (yet) so the premier league will not let us do anything that may upset their apple cart.

Well, for those of who have suggested we sometimes switch to a different system, here's the response from Nuno:-

When asked if they may have to change their style of play and adopt a more conservative approach to get back on track in the Premier League, Nuno said: “I will not, ever. I will not do it.

3-4-3 it is then.
