City v Liverpool results.

1. CIty's results have been:

Manchester City 6-1 Southampton
Spurs 0-1 Manchester City
Manchester City 5-0 Burnley
Liverpool 0-0 Manchester City
Manchester City 2-0 Brighton and Hove Albion
Cardiff City 0-5 Manchester City
Manchester City 3-0 Fulham
Manchester City 2-1 Newcastle United
Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-1 Manchester City
Manchester City 6-1 Huddersfield Town
Arsenal 0-2 Manchester City

City have won 2 and drawn 1 of their top 6 games.

They have won all the other games.

What i see is:

Southampton
Burnely
Brighton
Cardiff
Fulham
Newcastle
Hudderfield

Thats basically all of the teams from no 15 to no 20 currently, plus 12th placed brighton

2. Liverpool results thus far:

West Ham United 4-0
Crystal Palace 2-0
Brighton 2-1
leicester 2-1
Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 (a)
Southampton 3-0
Chelsea 0-0 (a)
Manchester City 1-1 (h)
Huddersfield Town 1-0
Cardiff 4-1
Arsenal 1-1 (a)

where is the difference?

3 of 4 top 4 rivals played away form home. 4 games to city's 3. 1 win and 3 draws

We have played so far:

current 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 18th and 20th placed teams. all wins.

3. Conclusions?

Theres harder games to come for both sides.

city have 3 clean sheets v those poorer teams but have scored a lot.

LFC have had just slightly (not by much) harder fixutres and have 4 clean sheets in the games and frankly only the brighton and huddersfield games are let downs form GD point of view.

I think many people are saying city are simply unbeatable based on a few big scorelines but the deeper look shows bottom half teams getting trashed.

We play fulham next at home. City won 3-0 against them. If lfc win... and it's a draw between the two Manchester clubs it will be all square again

There’s only one way of looking at it

City are far superior to the rest of us - De Bruyne out has made no difference to them whatsoever

It really is a question of how many points/ goals they’ll get and how many points they’ll win it by

Anyone taking about cathing them is obviously trying to look at the positives which there are for each club

The fact is we’re still unbeaten and it’s still only good enough for 3rd spot

Me personally I’ve wrote this season off - role on next season

Not sure whether to take this with a pinch of salt or not

At this stage last season, City had 31 points from a possible 33. The nearest challenger had 23.

This in stark contrast to this season

City are 2 points worse off and the nearest challengers are only trailing by 2 points, which equates to a 1 game swing between now and May.

Yes. City are favourites and they should be for a number of factors but a write off!?!?!

Behave!

Anything can happen.

As i said in OP...

LFC beat spurs. Man city beat spurs
Man city beat arsenal, LFC draw with spurs.

There's 2 points between the teams as we speak.

So city played the sides in 15,16,17, 18, 19 and 20th in the table and beat them all...... so what? I mean that's what city have done.

They drew with wolves.... we beat leicester... those are the only mid top half type teams played by either side.

The ASSUMPTION is City are awesome and fair enough they look good.

Pinch of salt/anything can happen 😧😧

I have no doubt City may draw against a so called average side but I’ve also no doubt they’ll then go and win 10 league games on the trott scoring 40 and letting in about 4

Utd under Fergie were superb but they’d still lose a few games and draw a good few and still win the league - City unless they get hit with the Black Plague will stroll to the the title - the one thing that may happen they may be 18 points clear in March and then rest players for league games to concentrate on cups meaning they might drop points so they will only win the league by 6-10 points

If City can replicate anything close to last season, in terms of domestic success, I will be simultaneously surprised and euphoric in equal measure.

It'll all come out in the wash.

Roll on the Derby.

the Manchester derby is a big game. as was spurs.

The other teams.must win and whatever happens in derby they have to keep pace.

city's worst enemy is themselves... league cup, fa cup, cl will all be played for and certain players.like Silva are key... if tjey are tireed out then thats where city will fall back.

right now imo Lfc need to win their next 5. If tjey do then it's a title race
if lfc don't do it and a 5 or 6 point gap opens then city will manage through the busy times

City can bring in Foden, Gundogan and Diaz to give the 2 Silva's a rest. Hopefully after this injury clears up KDB can get some proper game time. I am not saying City will romp home but lack of depth in midfield should not be an issue. Fullbacks maybe, DM maybe but attacking midfield not a chance.
