Eddie Howe.

Listening to the debate, strachan saying how when they played Cardiff at the beginning of the season, they knew Cardiff would prefer crosses into the box, it played to their strengths compared to defending against a team playing it around on the floor. So howe set his team up to play every pass along the floor, they even took corners short or across the floor, making Cardiff struggle to defend against it. They change their approach or formation sometimes but never their "philosophy"

He also mentioned how every player has to be comfortable with the ball at their feet and be able to pass and control the ball well. That would mean Howe wouldn't accept players like fellaini, matic, Lukaku and they'd be out, our style would be improved massively. One last thing, they mentioned how there's never any negativity coming out of Bournemouth, something we could do with. I understand the expectations are higher at a club the size of United but I really think a manger like Howe, who can make players play the way Bournemouth do on a very tight transfer budget, could build something very good at a team like united.

It's always dangerous having a manager who has won nothing in the game managing players who have won titles and world cups etc.

Poch would have same issue albeit he's probably more respected by the top players in the game as his profile is higher.

Apparently Rio said to Moyes in a heated exchange 'what have you won' or words to that effect.

I think we should appoint Moyes. He's worked wonders at Everton for years and deserves the chance to make the step up

Bournemouth have come into the prem, one of the smallest clubs to even be in the prem and never changed their style, they've tried to take the game to every team they play and beaten pretty much all the top 6 at some point in their few years in the prem. you'll always see Howe try attack if he was manager of united, something all us fans would love. He can't be any worse than what we've had since Fergie. Why wait till he proves it somewhere else at a bigger club? Make it harder to get him eventually? People don't want risks since moyes but he's completely different in his style.

All this too nice thing is a myth, Glenn Murray said Howe made him very aware that he wasn't doing enough at Bournemouth and that he expected more and dropped him.

I’m not so sure a lack of trophies by a prospective manager is that important to us right now. For starters, the group of players we have now are not the same as when Moyes took over. Yes, some remain, but they haven’t won big trophies consistently since Fergie left.

As far as viable candidate go, I think we’d be looking at:

Poch
Zidane

And then plucky outsiders that I wouldn’t be against at all:

Southgate
Howe
Solkjaer

is actually prefer to see what one of the managers from that second list could do.

We need a totally fresh approach and a manager preheated to invest time and patience in our young prospects.

Prepared!

Though I welcome my phones autocorrect to ‘preheated’!

Howe and Southgate are the only two english managers who have adapted to the modern game and tactics. They both play a style which will fit most foreign players as they want to play the ball on the floor.

I think Howe can adapt to a top six club the same Poch has adapted. Poch had never managed a top club before and he is doing well.

I do think you need to change your midfield players. They are too slow with their passing to link the defence with attack. We have the same problem with our midfield with Henderson, Gini and Milner.

I wonder how many titles zidane had before getting hired.

We have reached a point where we need to just throw the dice.

Southgate still relies almost solely on set pieces and tactically hasn't changed much since his Boro days imo. Amazing what a difference a few results makes. True tho
