Spurs vs Liverpool - Who’s better?

Right let’s get into this - I’m bored and it’s Christmas Eve so let’s have a bit of a debate on this.

For me right now, Liverpool look to be the best side in the league, followed by Spurs and City - but some disagree. Sandy for example believes that Spurs are by far the better team and that this will be proven come the end of the season

So over to you guys (yeah I know I’m a Leicester fan but love PL football), which team is better? To assist with the argument;

Head to Head: Liverpool beat Spurs at Wembley 2-1 this season.

Liverpool are yet to lose a game, Spurs have lost 4 games

Recent Form: Spurs have won 8 of their last 9 league games losing once to Arsenal. Liverpool have also won 8 of their last 9 games having drawn with Arsenal

Stand out Player Comparison

Goalkeeper

Allison (Liverpool) Liverpool’s defensive woes last season have been addressed with the world record signing of Allison from Roma. Despite a couple of glaring errors (notably against Leicester and Manchester United), Allison looks a different class compared to Mignolet and Karius.

Lloris (Spurs) Now a World Cup winner Lloris has been a commanding presence between the sticks for Spurs since his arrival in August 2012. Capable of poor decision making at times, that’s more than made up for by his remarkable shot stopping ability. Currently captains the side.

Centre Backs

Virgil Van Dijk. (Liverpool) Liverpool were struggling defensively last season and the arrival of this world class powerhouse from Southampton has seen the reds finally looking rock solid in defence. Since his premier league debut VVD leads the charts for most duels won and most clearances this season.

Jan Vertongen (Spurs). A few eyebrows were raised when FIFA 19 ranked Jan as the best defender in Europe right now, perhaps they shouldn’t be as his performances since being signed in 2012 have been outstanding. Is he better than VVD though?

Midfield

Fabinho (Liverpool) This defensive midfielder arrived from Monaco in 2018 and looks to have added a real bite to Liverpool’s midfield along with a touch of class on the ball. Shaping up to be one of the signings of the season

Christian Eriksen (Spurs) There’s a few to choose from but Eriksen is the heartbeat of a very talented Spurs midfield. So much comes through this player who seems to improve season upon season

Attack

Mo Salah (Liverpool) Salahs arrival at Liverpool in 2017 has seen him become a Liverpool legend within a matter of months. Scoring a record 43 goals in his debut season for Liverpool, Salah looks to be re-discovering his lethal touch following a difficult start to the season

Harry Kane (Spurs). No one else even come close in the Spura attacking line up. While Son has improved dramatically, Kane remains the icing on the cake for Spurs already notching 10 goals this season as he looks to challenge for the PL golden boot once again. One of the very best strikers in Europe

So go on guys - pound for pound who is better? Liverpool or Spurs??

Only one of these teams feels the need to list “Norwich Hospital Charity Cup Winners” on its official website. Just saying

Well no, because it’s not a thing. The point is because Spurs have won very little they need to pad it out with this nonsense

Spurs fans are going to say they're better. Liverpool fans - like myself - will say Liverpool are better.

But you know what doesn't lie? The league table. The league table says we are six points ahead of Spurs and we are top of the league. There's no bias or anything there....just an indisputable FACT. Another FACT....Liverpool swept aside Spurs at Wembley. Three points to the reds, ZERO for Spurs.

Sure, Spurs advanced further in the league cup. But it's a ridiculous argument to claim that Spurs' failings in the league are a result of advancing in the League Cup - like it's a comparison to what happened to Liverpool during the Champions league. The LC is NOT the same as the Champions League.

So face the facts, Spurs. Liverpool - at this moment - are the better side. Not arrogance, just better. I am not going to predict that Liverpool will win the league or City - or Spurs. But if the question is who is better, the answer is as clear cut as possible.

Can’t really argue with this. For the moment.

So I’ll stick to
Petty childish name calling
