Time to pull the plug

Today was simply not good enough. Puel got it wrong. He was let down by poor performances from poor players last week, but this week the defeat is almost entirely down to Puel. Playing three defence minded midfielders against good teams is a decent tactic, but against a bottom 3 side it was just never going to work. To score only once against a team down to 10 men for 50 minutes is unacceptable.

Unlike others, I've always been prepared to give Puel the time to implement the project that he was brought in for. I like a lot of what he has done, the players he has signed, the youngsters he has brought into the team, but with a heavy heart I've come to the realisation that it's not working. I really really wanted it to work and I'm prepared to accept some short term pain for long term gain, but the standard of the performances against the weaker teams isn't acceptable.

I don't think Puel has been a terrible manager. I think a lot of the things he has done here could potentially see benefits for the club in the long term. But when you've lost the fans, the local media and some sections of the dressing room and then compound that with poor tactics, the writing is on the wall.

Just don't think that sacking Puel will suddenly make us considerably better, because it won't. We need a dramatic overhaul from top to bottom otherwise we will be back having the same discussions about another manager in 12 months time.

Alladyce would have been perfect after Shakespeare, but not now

Leicester City's last three Premier League defeats have come against sides starting the day in 16th (Crystal Palace), 17th (Cardiff City) and 18th (Southampton).

I’ve seen 39-something managerial appointments here at Leicester (single & multiple caretaker and fixed) over the years. All have come in at at a time of crises, good and bad times, mixed financial fortunes-much like any other club. Pretty much all of them have given their all, though you may well point out one or two exceptions. They’ve brought their expertise, traits and faults and, bar one or two, took the club as far as they possibly could. Perhaps we’ve reached that juncture now and the club might just as well see this through to the summer, just in case there’s a dramatic turnaround.

A hasty, makeshift appointment now isn’t going to benefit the club right now.

Has he gone yet?

Not convinced yet.

So if he goes:
- who comes in?
- what is the expectation?

the expectation is to look like we can beat teams like Southampton and Cardiff at home, that would be a start

Yes but we've beaten Chelsea and Man City, we're 8th - what do you want exactly? Bit of Nev style devil's advocate here.

To look like we actually belong in 8th. We aren’t going to stay there or challenge for 7th playing like we are.
