I'm sure O'Neill is glad of the work, he will hardly have been inundated with offers. For some managers they probably prefer it if the owner is a bit trigger-happy, because if they get sacked they get paid off and can leave with reputation pretty much intact. Karanka won't have been harmed by this episode, most observers think he has done well, plus he gets a nice thick wad of cash for a few months' work. For O'Neill the risk is low - he's getting on a bit so an 18 month contract might well take him to retirement age, whether he sees out the 18 months or not. If it all works out well then he can carry on a bit longer.

Typical. I nearly ALWAYS go to the Forest away game and the first time for years I don’t, we win!
I always enjoy a day out in Nottingham and usually stay the night.
I do find it interesting reading opposition views - particularly interesting in this case that there doesn’t seem to be anything about Weimann’s ‘goal’, or your penalty shout.

I was at the game but was at the far end from the Weimann goal. Can’t really recall why it was disallowed. Probably because he is ex-Derby! He got his revenge later in the game and enjoyed trying to wind the Forest fans up after setting up the winner.

It was one of the dullest games I have been to. Take nothing away from Bristol City. They looked a competent outfit with some decent midfielders, especially the lad that came on in the second half. He had a touch of quality about his play. Fielding had a perfect game and it would have been karma for him after he was harshly sent off for Derby years ago here after 2 mins of a match! I reckon you are an outside bet for the play offs and could be this season’s surprise package. Lee Johnson needs to work on his dance moves, though. 😆

How do you know O’Neill wasn’t inundated with offers? He has only just left his last job.

He certainly wasn't thinking about coming to Forest before he got the phone call, that's for sure!

Cheers 🍻
The ‘goal’ was ruled out for offside - but the replay shows Weimann was NOT offside when the pass was made.
The ‘penalty’ was when Pack and Diedhiou got ‘tangled up’ with a Forest player - Robinson I think. Robinson threw himself onto the ball and got trodden on by both our players in the ‘scuffle’. It looked painful - there are some photos out there, but you can see that neither City players are looking at Robinson - I don’t believe it was deliberate - neither Pack nor Diedhiou are aggressive players, but like I said it looked painful and you do see them given from time to time.

... oh, and the lad who came on for the second half is Kasey Palmer - on loan from Chelsea.
Interestingly he hardly featured in an ‘average’ Blackburn side, which is where he was before he came to us.
He scored last week on his debut.

Ah, Palmer. Forgot he had gone to Bristol City. He could be the game changer you need to break the top six.

The whistle had gone long before Weimann put the ball in the net, so any dispute about the offside is irrelevant.

The photo shows both players stamping on Robinson, one with his foot in his groin.

The match footage (ifollow gives me the whole 90 minutes) shows Robinson pushed over first, then stamped on. I'm sure it was desperation rather than malice, but it's a penalty and at least one red card if the ref takes action.

Sadly, the ref spent the last 15 minutes of the game giving City fouls for falling over, so he wasn't going to give that.

No complaints about the result as City outplayed Forest on the day, but it was ironic that such GBH went unpunished while Forest picked up two bookings for good tackles.

Fair enough PTS. I wasn’t there. Like I said, the ‘stamping ‘ looked painful - but not deliberate - and a penalty is often given whether or not the offence is deliberate.
