I think the line up had no merit on previous team selections against the ‘big teams’ and what was successful so didn’t understand it from this point of view at all. In terms of being positive and selecting a team in theory, on what has already worked for us before as a team in relation to formation/tactics/personnel - I got it...I liked it in a lot of ways. The bizarre tactic/personnel choice for 10 minutes was just mental - yes, it was corrected, but it was like someone who knew nothing about our time took over for a period.

I know I sound pessimistic and usually I try to be balanced and reflective but something really feels uncomfortable for me now and it isn’t wind.

As I said, re: players. On the whole, I thought they were really good considering conditions, opposition etc

I think that's a realisation a lot of us have made, somethings not quite right and it's difficult to have any confidence except that the players will give their all.

I remember at the start of the season you thought this would be a good Season after Puel experimented last Season, it still feels like he's experimenting and is trying so many different things he loses track with where we are sometimes, games like tonight and any other Larger team tend to bring him back on track.

Roll on Utd and Spurs.

I’ve seen much more attacking intent from us in the last two games - this one and in particular Wolves, a game we shouldn’t have lost. That’s been good to see given the dross we have seen for large parts of the season.

Unfortunately I’m not sure we have enough quality around the team right now to take full advantage. Gray gets into brilliant positions and mostly facks up. Barnes has potential but is unproven. Albrighton is useful but lacking top quality in attack. Maddison is young and inconsistent. Vardy is still a good finisher but his best days are behind him. Mendy isn’t good enough and no one else in central midfield really is aside from N’didi. Choudhury looks promising

This is the reasoning behind the Tielemans signing - we desperately need better quality in attack

Let’s start with the positives. That was one of the best performances this season.

Good tactics but I’m with KTF. It was stupid to start Maddison wise left and Albrighton central. Stupid. We literally looked like conceding every time Liverpool got the ball until that was fixed.

But when it was fixed. Wow. Like night and day compared to recent weeks. Massive massive credit to Ndidi who looked like the player of old. Brilliant.

Albrighton also quality in defence and going forward. His interplay with Pereira was a delight.

Credit to Puel today. It was good tactics and a good performance. Once he corrected his stupid initial experiment anyway!!

~laugh> talk about a backhanded compliment

Maddison being played wide left was not the reason we conceded after 4 minutes. We do it every game regardless of who plays where. Yes it wasn’t the right thing to do but we start every game slowly

Reasonably pleasant journey back except M6 closed near Stoke so diversion.

Great to come home with a point. Just wondering why he didn't go 4-3-3 with Choudhury. Having found success with 3 DMs against Chelsea and Man City. It'll be interesting to see what formation we use/how we do against United and Spurs.

Bit weird to be more optimistic about those matches than the two home games following against Palace and Brighton!

Not sure I agree BS. Chilwell was afforded zero cover and Liverpool were running riot down the right.

As soon as we changed we got a grip on the game. Don’t get me wrong, we still started typically slow and tentative.

The defensive set up and formation overall worked very well though once Maddison was central.

The goal would have been scored irrespective is what I’m saying. We had touched the ball once by the time they scored and it didn’t come from the right hand side. To be honest Liverpool started on fire and we just didn’t get going as usual.

Don’t get me wrong it was a strange decision but something that was corrected early on.

Glad we agree. It was a strange decision. It did not work at all, it was corrected quickly.

Please don’t try that ever again Puel!!

Great result LCFC.

Glad to hear N'didi played much better. Probably due to the Tielemans news?
