This week we came even closer to making....

Anyone remember those amazing Hungarians Holloway brought in on the left and right side of the wing? They played out of their skins for the first game against Coventry before completely disappearing from view - kind of like the princes in the tower

Yes Laczko and Bori. I can remember a game, probably that one, where Laczko looked quite decent and then nothing.

It does remind us of how far we’ve come as a club.

Yes that’s them! First game against Cov they were on fire and then I can’t remember seeing them again!

Borinwas a calm composed midfielder always dictating the pace of the game, and Laczko was like donaldo but better.....


.... for 60 minutes of that Cov game anyway. After that they made Barry Hayles look like Pele.

Barry Hayles Oh my god I completely forgot about him. Holloway’s worst moment by far - what was he thinking?!! He was about 40 wasn’t he?

Zsolt Laczko's debut remains the best debut I think I've ever seen from a Leicester player. He was superb, got a standing ovation and we left thinking he was our own version of Messi. Quite what happened to him after that I do not know. I do remember seeing him playing in a European match a few years ago so he's not done too badly for himself.

The 2007/08 season remains one of the strangest seasons in our history. Martin Allen's 96 days of madness, Toppy the Tile, Clive Clarke's heart attack, letting Forest's goalie score in the rearranged match, Gary Megson's 6 weeks, beating Villa with 7 defenders, Burrows and Taggart, Oliver's Army, signing Lee Hendrie and Jamie Clapham, the capitulation at home to Sheff Wed and the thousands of season tickets thrown on the pitch when they scored their third, and then relegation. What a year!

Other gems I've just remembered:

- Signing Hossein Kaebi based on YouTube clips
- Martin Allen getting the players to rearrange the flowers around the training ground
- Carl Cort scoring at Stamford Bridge
- Signing Premier League Derby's best two players
- Beating the eventual champions West Brom
- Dickson Etuhu's incredible miss against Bristol City

Ahem, Holloway and thinking in the same sentence?

This is a hazy memory, away to Palace in the late 80s, div2, very early season (it was a hot day). We had an Finnish international CF – Jari Rantanen? – on debut.
He looked the part, tall and solidly built, but was clearly overweight, not very fit and yards off the pace, going bright red in the face from the effort of running about a bit after a few minutes.

I think we also signed Mike Newell about the same time – that worked out better.
