Sanchez and Lukaku

Great result today away to a decent team.

Not a great performance but so be it.

On to Sanchez, I just don't see how he can start another game for United in the league. Any other option is a better option. He gives the ball away time and time again and just doesn't seem to be able to get away from a player the way he used to. China should be his next destination.

Now on to Lukaku. Completely unacceptable cameo today. I don't care how bad you are, or what form you're in. If you don't break a sweat in 25 minutes of Premier League football you're doing something wrong.

Young, 33 years of age, wasn't great at all today but one thing I could never fault about him is his effort.

Matic, 30 years of age, playing in CM making a 40 metre sprint to get back to help to defend at the end of the game.

Lukaku, 25 years of age, comes on for twenty minutes and refuses to move. At one point you could see Young tell him to fecking move.

Lack of quality I can accept but lack of effort absolutely not. If he doesn't buck his ideas up before the end of the season, he should be put on the transfer list. He's never going to be ahead of Rashford ever again and if he's just gonna stroll about when he's on the pitch then there's absolutely no point in keeping him..

The rules only affect the transfer fees, not wages. Unless you, Power Of Now (U20893), can point to a source to back your point, lower wages here would be higher after tax compared to the UK for foreign players.

Both Pogba and Young were pointing and telling Lukaku where to run when they had the ball. He just looked at them and lumbered in the opposite direction. I honestly don't know what he was thinking. He'd just come off the bench and should have been full of running. It was an absolute disgrace.

How many times have we said this about Lukaku now?

If he’s not even going to put the effort in coming off the bench, we’re better off getting rid.

What some of our recent games are highlighting is that, beyond our best 11, we’re really lacking in quality depth. The first 11 isn’t perfect, but it’s not far off.

Is it a lack of effort, or a lack of intelligence?

It's a bit of both.

This is the conundrum with Lukaku. He is the worst substitute that we can bring on if we have a narrow lead.

I see no future for him at this club unless he gets himself fit and starts to put in the efffort.

Lukaku must be the easiest CF to play against as a defender in the PL. You know exactly what he is going to do next. Stand still.

Blind had him in his pocket, even in ariel duals.

I can't believe that we paid so much for him. I appreciate that he can score a lot of goals if you provide him the service, but feck me, he also has to put the work in to create some chances for himself. Sometimes he just can't be bothered to make the run. Either that or he is stupid. But I don't think that he is stupid, as he does see space, as evidenced by his assist for Sanchez against Arsenal. And he often tries quick lay-offs for his team mates, although doesn't always have the technical ability to execute it. It just seems that sometimes he can't be bothered. He had just come off the bench, missed a fairly decent chance to score, and still wasn't motivated to give his team mates an option. The writing is on the wall for me - especially if Ole gets the gig long term.
