Offensive Behaviour at Football Bill

and so this farce continues to rumble on.......

"But offensive singing will not be covered — and Mrs Cunningham left MSPs stunned when she told them: "The Bill does not make being offensive at a football match criminal."

why make a new law and not actively know what it covers???

why call it the offensive behaviour at football bill if it doesn't cover being offensive at football

the problem with this is, who decides whats offensive and what is not?

its bizarre, that in this country the sign of the cross can pi$$ people off, but only at a football game, i dont see people shouting abuse and chapels when they walk past them.

singing god save the queen, majorly offensive to some people, insane stuff.

its like lettin the inmates run the asylum by giving into mugs like these.

keny

i think the biggest issue is the fact we already have legislation to cover all eventualities, how the police and fiscal choose to enforce these is another matter right enough

doesnt have to be hugely detailed

songs about tragedys - ibrox disaster the potatoe famine, no go.

songs about killing - no.

religious sectarianism - no.

but who draws the line thats the problem, i think people in this country are good at dishing it out but not takin it back, for me anything extreme has to go, but the sign of the cross and gstq? whos actually annoyed by that? and why?

are they trying to kill banter all together.

Keny, I think thats the problem. So many people have been claiming mock offence to practically everything now, that its just gotten out of control. "They complained about this, let us all complain about that".

The t-for-tat stuff that has surfaced in the last 5 years is shocking. Fans writing to MPs, Fans writing to Uefa/Fifa/FARE etc..... its just getting ridiculous.

Some people wont be happy till you cant sing at all at football games!

zachsda - there are 3 which i think are due a chopping at least. billy boys, famine song and roamin in the gloamin.

but that said i also think that its being aimed directly at the old firm when hearts and aberdeen are as bad if not worse than us.

hearts fans come out with disgusting stuff at parkhead im not kidding, its sick sometimes.

aberdeen have fans who laugh about the ibrox disaster and durrant leg. wtf?

last year when celtic played aberdeen in the cup, commons debut, i was in town in a wee pub at queens street station adn there was an aberdeen fan walkin around in a kilt with a aberdeen scarf round him, started talkin and within a minute i left my pal to talk to him, all he wanted to do was talk about how much he hated rangers.

Cunningham and her wee campaigns and agendas is costing us a fortune... with nothing in return. She is a waste of bigoted skin.

Agreed ish - it's embarrassing, the fans don't know what they can or can't do and the police don't know when it's a crime. It just creates room for inconsistencies, the law can only work in any bill if it's black and white, no grey areas.
