I could not finish the video...got pssed off at the number of chances he put on a plate only for the likes of Iwobi to royally screw up the final shot.

For those complaining that we cannot carry Ozil due to his lack of defensive hustle, I'd ask the WHY did we buy him? He had been around for ages and if our board and manager did not know exactly what they were buying, then that is stupidity that boggles the mind.

I'd wager that Ozil will create 2 goal scoring opportunities every game in 70 - 80% of games he plays in over the course of a season. Then he will have the 20% of utter dross. But I'd take that over the crap we are seeing right now. And again...horses for courses. Yes...drop him against teams that press hard. But he should be first on the list for home games and most teams outside 6 or 7 in the league.

Ozil wasn't a strategic purchase it was a bargain purchase after Wenger missed out on his main target Higuian for couple of millions and losing him to Napoli....

Back then we already had good attacking midfield and was desperate need of a striker and defensive addition. But thats Wenger for you.

Secondly, I am pretty sure Emery wants him out as he wants different kind of system which is entirely different thing...its just a shame that such a quality player is at the wrong club even wrong league...

Should have done what Man U did with Di Maria ship him out to PSG it would have been best deal for both parties.

I think this is the point. Leaving him out for "strategic" is all good if it was working. Unfortunately, our defending hasn't improved with him not being in the pitch.
If we still can't defend, might as well try to outscore the opposition.

No. It's actually that not getting rid of Ozil 2 contract renewals ago. Which has BEEN damaging AFC (along with other factors) for years. Ozil is/was responsible for so many goals conceded (way more than he's ever created). Since it was his lack of work off the ball, refusing to press it. Which heavily contributed to the MF and defence facing players in full flight, always able to charge up to MF unchallenged. Because Ozil can't be assed with even as little a standing in their way, forcing them around him.

Spot on. Long said great passer but wrong for Arsenal or any PL club for that matter. The PL game, is too "In ya face" hustle for Mesut. He needs to be in Spain, France. Any league with a slower paced game overall. Doesn't want to hustle and never will. Ship him out!

If you remember, Ozil was bought as a big name, to appease griping Arsenal fans screaming for a marquee signing. Had nothing to do with needing him as a player. Yes Wenger and the board's bad call. As for carrying him in the team. If he lacked anything other than the basic will to put the effort in and fight for results. Then maybe I'd support the idea. But lacking that trait simply makes him a no no in this league. Every team needs 10 out fielders bustin their ass for at least 70 but up to 95mins. In the Premier League, not having that costs you more results than any one player can make up for.

5-2 and all others

Don't deceive yourselves. We're all more than aware that the biggest reason for the dip in results recently, is the injury carnage across the back line. Nothing at all to do with Ozil not playing, since he's been utter faeces most of the time he's played and Ramsey & Co dug us out of a hole and got us a result.

It's a TERRIBLE idea to put Ozil back in the side now and it's just plain silly to suggest it at this point. Think it through. Really not difficult after this thread, to understand why putting Ozil back in the side, in front of a MF pairing settling/learning and an a back line missing starters... Is a really bad idea. This defence would struggle to make up for him at full strength. Let alone with half of em missing through injury.

Also, we do not have the buying power to purchase the necessary players to make Ozil work. Getting rid and freeing up the wage money we're paying him is the only sensible option for Arsenal FC.

The delusion is actually worse than its ever been. This is why arsenal fans are a laughing stock. Pathetic

WB2, Ozil's lack of work rate or defensive contribution doesn't bother me. He'll make chances out of nothing but to the detriment of our general play because he can't control games, so it's always a trade off between his creativity and the negative effect he has on the team. And then there's the disappearing acts where he offers nothing. The good performances every now and then aren't enough to make up for the trash. If he was destroying teams going forward it wouldn't matter that he doesn't track back.

Chelsea won multiple titles with Hazard as a passenger defensively, and I don't remember Mahrez being much of a terrier off the ball when Leicester won it, so it can be done. It's too late to build the team around accommodating Ozil's weaknesses now though, and we never really had the money (or probably the right coach) to do it properly in the past either.

Our main issue over the years is/was our defense not our attack.

When results are bad and performances are getting worse you need to sort it out. We have a player who can bring in some sort of creativity which we lack at the Moment. I dont care if Özil make a tackle. He shouldnt be that guy in the first place.
