Saudi want to buy Man United

That's according to the Daily Mail.

Manchester United 'receive whopping £3.8BN takeover bid' from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman who hopes to tempt Glazers into selling the club before next season.

If this happens, we will join City and PSG.

Say they did buy the club and wanted to rid the emblem of a devil, but would fund the purchase of neymar and VVD.. what would be the reaction from man u fans?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well that wouldn't happen obviously. Why get rid of the emblem that is synonymous with United. Makes no sense.

Aside from the point that they couldn't just come in and buy Neymar and VVD. I highly doubt the finances would add up.

Saudi have spoken up and have said the story is bollox and that meetings with the club are about sponsorship.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Regardless, Eric will be fuming
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fuming that it looks to be a load of nonsense ??? Please explain that one to me. Intrigued how I'd be fuming about that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Happy to take sponsorship money off them Erik, so moral so much fortitude.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you making stuff up again Loz? You are aren't you? I'm not happy with that deal at all. I'd love it if we terminated all ties with them. We don't need Human Rights Abusers money like you lot do.

All 3 things are ridiculously unlikely. And irrelevant to be honest. I think that a large majority of United fans would be upset. I reckon a lot would look at supporting other teams or just losing interest in football.

“If this rumoured takeover goes ahead, Saudi Arabia has a band of 400m proxy supporters overnight”

I don’t think it works like that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It does.

As the man city fans defending the UAE re Bridges shows. Sod all to do with football, far removed from their lives but because it is the owners of Man city involved it provokes blind support from the Man City fanbase.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It isn't the owners of us involved though, we don't have owners for a start. To flip that particular case around though, the point most City fans were making to Ronay is it has nothing to do with them - nor him and his blind support of the initial stance around Bridges (as that article was written very prematurely) was an example of that blind partisanship flipped 180 degrees.

The only thing it does is raise awareness in general, which can then be used for good or bad. As I said earlier though, most people are capable of rational thought.

I think this too. The scenarios between City and United are different in themselves. They had been starved of success for a long time and, although it's a cliché now say it, won the lottery.

It's not about us taking some kind of moral high ground over other football fans. City gained something huge when UAE took over. All clubs lost something with the commercialisation of the game (something which United helped to pioneer), but I feel any hypothetical takeover from the Saudis will be the final straw for me.

As in plural, we have a single owner. You’re just proving the point even more though.
