Arsenal POTY / YPOTY

Hopefully 12 more games left of the season, but April tends to coincide with discussions about the player of the season. So who would win the awards for Arsenal if you had your choice?

Player of the Year
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang - 40 apps, 22 goals, 7 assists.
Highlights include the stunning equaliser against Spurs in the 4-2 win, 2 goals coming off the bench in the comeback win over Leicester, 2 against Rennes as we overturned a 3-1 deficit in the last round of the Europa, and a cool penalty in a 2-0 win over Man Utd.
Lowlight - the missed penalty a week earlier vs Spurs that cost us 2 points.
His first full season at Arsenal sees him fighting for the PL golden boot, as he closes in on 20 league goals.

Alexandre Lacazette - 39 apps, 15 goals, 11 assists.
Goals in the wins over Spurs and Chelsea, plus the equaliser against Liverpool in a 1-1 draw are among his key contributions this season.
His lowlight would be a red card against BATE.
26 direct contributions to goals shows his all round impact on our attacking play, and although he has played second fiddle to his strike partner in terms of goals, his contribution to games is seen as greater than PEAs.

Lucas Torreira - 40 apps, 2 goals, 3 assists.
Adding tenacity to our midfield, Torreira had to wait to get starts this season. But he quickly improved our team when he was blooded in. His desire to win was highlighted by scoring the winner in the frustrating game against Huddersfield at the Emirates. Also netted a very memorable goal against Spurs in the 4-2. Has slowed down a bit in the second half of the season, understandably.

Bernd Leno - 29 apps, 8 clean sheets, 33 conceded.
Had to wait until halfway through the 7th game of the season to make his PL debut, but Leno has quickly established himself as number 1 since.
His clean sheet record doesn't really reflect his performances, with the highlight a stunning double save at Wembley to deny Spurs.
A couple of errors, Southampton and Spurs goals, but his performances generally have been very good.

Young Player of the Year
Matteo Guendouzi - 38 apps, 1 goal, 2 assists.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles - 20 apps, 2 goals, 1 assist
Emile Smith-Rowe - 6 apps, 3 goals.

For me, Alex Lacazette and Matteo Guendouzi (unless Lucas Torreira is eligible for this - I did 21 and unders)

Would love Ramsey to win it if he secures top 4 but wouldn't complain if Laca won POTY and Guen won YPOTY

Lacazette and Gwen

Torreira would have been a good shout but seems to have dropped off big time from the first 10-15 games

I am thinking from a 21 and under viewpoint. Torreira and Iwobi would be considered under PL YPOTY parameters though.
If Guendouzi, 19 years old and moving from Ligue 2 to the PL, hasn't impressed you then you are a very hard taskmaster!

I think he's done ok but hasn't really done anything of note, if u understand me, at the mo. I would of picked iwobi personally but he's too old at 22.

I'll give it to the Lac.

For his work ethic, his goals and for surprising me this season. I thought he was a player lucky to be playing for Arsenal, but the way he is playing we're lucky to have him.

AMN has really improved the more he has played. Delighted for him.

But Douzi should win. New league, not even twenty and looking very promising.

Lacazette's all round play is impressive. His goal out put can definitely get better, however his assists make up for it. Aubamayang is our star player but his contributions to overall game is not as effective as Laca's. Tough one to call between the two strikers. Torreira was the clear winner before the turn of the year.

Out of the young players its easy. AMN injury issues goes against him. Gwendouzi has been quite good. Had no idea he was only 19 till like a month or two into the season. Plays very well.

PEA and Gwen for me.

If AMN keeps up this form at RWB then it'll be between him and Gwen
