AVB's Back Again

Just became Marseille's manager.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48436194

Say what you will about this man but he sure is a "go getter" as they say

"Porto bores me. I want more money"
Gets Chelsea immediately

"Chelsea were mean. I want revenge"
Gets Spurs immediately

"English football's mean. Compensation's not enough, more money"
Gets job in Russia immediately

"money money money, give me more money"
Gets job in China immediately

"I've got enough money now, football bores me"
Quits football immediately to race cars

"Now that's done, time to milk football for more money"
Gets high profile club in less than a year

We should all aspire to be like AVB. Guy does what he wants whenever he wants and always gets what he wants. Wouldn't surprise me if we see him managing a top club again within the next 3-4 years, if he wants it he'll get it

I wonder if after all these years, he's cleared his throat?

He's like the Portuguese Steve McClaren, I dunno what sort of Jedi mind tricks he uses to constantly convince football owners to take him but it's damn impressive.

Watch him finish 5th-6th this year and get the PSG job

I think what happened here psychologically ruined him. He was a very good coach in waiting, there's a reason many fans stood by him despite the crap results.

His Porto team were amazing and played some unreal football but after his experience here he turned into a massively defensive coach, his Spurs and Zenit side's were Pulis level boring. One Zenit game they took an early lead and for the rest of it sat back and booted into touch all game.

I think he tried to force thing's too soon, he should have spent a few season's at Porto and then seeked a tougher challenge with 150 odd games under his belt.

He’s so young still that he’ll probably have a good career/some good jobs at some stage. Results wise at Spurs and Zenit he didn’t do that bad imo, but at Spurs he just never built a relationship with fans, he was basically unlikable, and also football not great. Maybe a similar thing at Zenit

He owes this mainly due to the successful period whilst at Porto and his charm that has not worn off to this day.

Does he have charm? I think most fans don’t find him very likeable.

I've got no doubt a good manager is in there somewhere, he just needs to rediscover what attracted him to football in the first place and build a squad that share his enthusiasm for coaching and preparation (who like all the DVD's, etc...).

I remember something Biggish said when he was our manager, he thought if AVB had a squad of robots who were designed to respond to him exactly how he envisioned players would he'd probably win the league every year. Hilarious, and bang on the money IMO
