Tricky Question

Say we win on Saturday.... would the CL count as the greatest achievement in the Clubs history overshadowing the '61 Double ????

I would never put this team anything like on par with that team (one of the greatest in the history of football in England) BUT given the challenges in the game today you could argue its harder

Would be interesting to hear the views of the Older generation (Sandy) Vs the Prem Gen boys ? Being of the age where I was at the Lane in '84 and my old man went to every home game of the Double season.,..... I have had that team "preached" to me my entire life

I guess I would say the Double Team are still the kings but this would be the greatest achievement in the clubs history

What say you ?

Winning the league is the most credible way to judge the quality of a team, be it now or 50 years ago.

We lost our first 3 games in this season's CL, have ridden our luck with VAR and last minute winners and play less games.

There's no doubt about it. A Cup double is a far greater achievement.

Still buzzing we are in CL final. Only a few years ago we were taunted mercilessly as we couldn't even qualify for the damn thing. Now we are one game away from the biggest prize.
And you have to remember we have done it in our least productive season in the past few years. We have had to deal with a crippling injury list, not having a home and most importantly not refreshing the squad has been a huge burden on us this season. Danny Rose said he wanted to win the EPL/Carabao and FA cup and the CL never even came into the reckoning as he never believed we would do it. Getting to the final alone almost feels like we have won a trophy
Winning the CL this season especially in this era of super mega rich clubs would eclipse anything that this club has ever done imo. The CL is second only to the World cup in terms of prestige..A loss would be a downer but with increased revenues, new stadium and elite training facilities there is only one way this club is going(unlike our classless neighbours down the road)..COYS!!!

Real Madrid and Benfica were the best of Europe in 1961 mate.

without a doubt

Chronic, why would Spurs winning a competition where they have lost four games against winning just five be considered a greater feat than doing something that had not been done for 70 years previously? Not being funny mate, just need to know. As I said I would be happy if Spurs won the CL, but they have lost nearly as many as they have won, so no way would it be a better achievement than what the team achieved in 1961.

European Cup is more special

League title is more impressive

The 61 double is way more of an achievement in my book
For a start it had never happened before. And it was 2 trophies.
If we win the CL people will just say it’s like when Liverpool or Chelsea won it. Special for us but in the overall football context, not really
It’s like saying Denmark winning the Euros was better than Spain’s treble from 2008-2012
