Just watched it last night.
Too much focus on characters that I don't much care about. Other than the characters that play father, mother and daughter, everyone else is under developed and wasted. Motive of the bad guys are becoming a cliche now.
Worse of all, Monster fights aren't shown in all their glory, you see mostly people just run about while the action is happening in the background. Even the main fight, you see the action of the people. More than the two main draws of the film.
The bits without the two main monsters rumbling are quite boring. Half the people watching with us fell asleep and there were probably about 15 people watching.
It's like they hardly learnt anything from the first movie in this franchise. The kids, 5 and 4,enjoyed bits of it.

Shin Godzilla seems to be more about the ineptitude of the Japanese government rather than Godzilla from the reviews I read online.
The 1997 movie is "fun" in a B-movie sort of way. I much prefer the cartoon series based of off that movie than the movie itself.

Review I heard on the film said it was basically 2 hours of WWE with monsters

Half the movie is spent following the people and their drama. And half the fights seem to happen in the background as we follow the people doing their own thing.

Just watched half of Shin Godzilla on TV. It was in Japanese, with Chinese subs. I can understand a bit of Japanese, but it's been some time.
You'd have to wonder what this movie would be like if they had Hollywood level of cgi. The human characters don't seem so annoying here.

If you need a dump during this film, take as long as you want in the second act of the film. Wastes so much time on the human characters and their stupid motivations during the middle 40mins of the film.
Just give me some mad monster fights and some cities being destroyed
Anyone seen Shin Godzilla?.. the 2016 Japanese film. It's daft but in the best way. Pure B-movie stuff.
