The Lukaku bid 2 days ago...

Was a measly £53.9m, which is way below our value of him according to BBC Sport.

Looks like he’s staying and fair enough with that being the offer. He’s worth way more than that it today’s market

I'm sure if it wasn't £50m over 4 years or whatever shady deal they offered we'd have accepted it.

But in a world we have to pay £80m for Maguire and Felix is going for upwards of £100m I think we should be asking for at least £65m.

Transfer fees don't work like that though. United are trying to buy players their clubs want to keep

Inter are trying to buy a player United wouldn't mind getting rid of.

That's the driving factor here between the different transfer values

It often seems like whenever we try to market value our players for sale, that some interested clubs are not willing to match or go near our valuations.

Yet some other clubs can manage to get a better return on players they sell.

£50m is a fair price. The fact we overpaid massively on him doesn’t change that. Fair enough if we want to hold out to see if someone will massively overpay on him again, chances are we’ll be stuck with him though.

You overpaid for him in the first place and most of you have been slagging him off, his last season has been shiiiit. So I dont undestand why you are now expecting to get 60-70 million for him. 50 million is a very very good offer for a striker with the first touch of Corky and who is 10 kilos overweight.

In the current market, Lukaku is worth a lot, lot more than £50 million.

I think it’s crazy to suggest otherwise.

The reason we’re struggling to get the right fee for him is because it’s clear we want to sell and because his wages are so high.

Gotta laugh at all these teams who try to rip United off for their players, then cry poverty when they can’t do the same buying players.

I don’t want to keep Rom, and I’d love to reinvest a decent fee we get from him as it’s badly needed. But if they don’t meet our value, then I’m quite happy the club are telling them to do one the cheapskates.

Gotta set a strong precedent.

Theyve seen what Liverpool and Chelsea etc have been getting for their cast offs and want to try do the same?

Remember teams dont just look at the transfer fee, wages, agent fees etc are all taken into account. Im sure Inter would pay 100 million for him if he took a paycut down to 90k a week or w.e.

Of course, but if Lukaku was at Everton now and being bought by a bigger UK club the price would be so much higher.

Just goes to show that a player’s value is really just what he’s worth to the selling club.
