I was watching the Liverpool game and I realized the changes to the goal kick rules are going to create some hilarious mistakes in the PL next season.
For those who don’t know, defenders are no longer required to be out of the box and the ball doesn’t need to leave the box before it can be played following a goal kick.
With the new focus on playing out from the back there will be some crazy high presses and mistakes no doubt. I can see a lot of England Netherlands esque mistakes.
Thank the lord we don’t have any of those defenders....

Made sense to change it, because the existing rule (retaking the GK if the defender touched it in the box) was being masterfully exploited by City, Liverpool and teams at the bottom of the league to waste time.

Pubs are going to close down as no one will have anything to talk about after the game.

It's a daft tactic as they always end up smashing it up field under pressure anyway. They litterally just waste 10 seconds of everybody's time exchanging passes with the full backs.

Last time they changed a rule involving goalkeepers and how they could or couldn’t play the ball it had disastrous consequences for Liverpool they’ve never recovered from

The switch has been flicked again, good news for us.

Inter got into all kinds of trouble trouble trying to take short goal kicks against us. And Conte kept having them do it, which suggests it is what they are looking to do.
Personally I think this playing out from the back is over rated.
