Mesut Ozil

Nodody expects much from him which might work in his favour., if we can get a decent contribution from him it would be a big bonus. His best season came after he was terrible in his 2nd season. He's here for two more years so we might as well try and use him as best we can. You'd hope he has feels he has something to prove and comes with a better attitude this season.

Will have to play at home against the so called lesser teams.

However should be nowhere near the team when visiting Anfield, old Trafford. Etihad etc

The guy can play football. You dont lose that over night. He played well in the US games. I'll never give up on players especially not that gifted. We will see. Competition enough at Arsenal.

A soon to be 31-year old who will be running into the final 12 months of possibly his last big long-term contract?

If that doesn't motivate him I don't know what will.

Game against Leicester last season at home was ridiculous

Ceballos and Pepe are very technical players whose style will suit Ozil. If they play together regularly I can see Ozil regaining his form and confidence.

Exactly, probably the best performance of any player of ours bar maybe Ramsey vs Fulham

Assuming he'll be awful again but he was once a great player so there's always a microscopic chance he'll be half decent...

*We have other first teamers who are awful and have never actually been good

It would be criminal to finally have a fast winger who can make runs and not play him.

Ozil used to have a very good understanding with Walcott. You'd hope Pepe is just as good or even better so I'd at least try to fit both together to see how they can link.

Will Talksport amalgamate the "what's the point of Mesut Ozil" and "The Daily Arsenal" sections of the Drive programme just to save time this term....
