Like buses. Gbamin next up

It's no secret that Everton have been trailing Mainz midfield enforcer and 23 year old Jean-Philippe Gbamin this summer and with today's news that Idrissa Gueye has left in a £28m deal to PSG, Everton have stepped up their efforts to sign the highly rated Ivorian.

An initial bid of £23m was rejected earlier today but it is expected to be agreed in principle by the end of today and possibly tomorrow at the latest.

Everton's scouts have been following the player closely both last season and during the African cup of Nations and the physical midfield powerhouse could fill the void left by Gueye whilst adding a little more going the other way, which was Gueye's only real downfall.

So he’s an upgrade on Gueye then?

Time will tell on that one. Gueye is going to be hard to replace. His stats the last 4 years in the premier league speak for themselves. We shall see but this kids young, experienced in Germany and international level. I'll be interested to see how he does.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never heard of him.

Said he likes a battle, to make a tackle and get stuck in. Refs are gonna love him.
