I guess the fact we have far too many defenders still on our books makes it obvious that we need to get rid of some. Ideally, I'd prefer we get rid of the likes of Rojo, Darmian, Jones and Young before Mike.

Maybe he has told Ole that he wants to play every week and would rather leave than be a squad player?

Hasn’t Mike been mostly on the bench this preseason? Could be why Everton thought they had a chance.

Hopefully we dont sign him. Hoping for better quality than Smalling. Also if I am not mistaken and hopefully united fans can tell me, isnt he always injured?

Mike’s injury record is pretty good these days I think. He’s a good defender, but he’s not really the type managers seem to want these days as he’s quite poor on the ball and distributing it. In terms of actually defending though, he’s good and arguably our best.

United fans call him Mike because van Gaal called him that in a press conference once.

According to SSN, Ole want to keep him anyway. I think the addition of Maguire is good for you lot. Unsure of the price, but I suppose you have to factor in the united & english player tax.

I think Maguire is ok, but not significantly better than what we currently have. I’d also say he’s probably too similar to Lindelof to get them to work as a pair which seems to be what Ole wants to do. They’re both comfortable on the ball and happy to bring it out but both are very slow. Maguire in better in the air whereas Lindelof has better sense of his surroundings.
