We definitely could have done with another striker and I was half thinking we would end up with a bit of a marquee signing like Ben Yedder or Belotti but it wasn't to be. Wesley has a fair bit of pressure on his shoulders now but some good midfielders around him, let's hope his debut season goes the way Jimenez's did at Wolves. Hopefully we give Spurs a good game tomorrow and get a few wins on the board early on to give ourselves a confidence boost.

Think we're fine. Dean Smith only plays one striker, and last season our best spell was when Tammy Abraham wasn't actually scoring many goals. Smith sees the striker as just one part of the attack.

Wesley can do that, and Kodjia seems to have finally recovered from his bad injury and I reckon can also do a job.

Oh well it was like the alamo.

Good game. Enjoyed it in spite of the result. Solid defence but for the last 20 minutes, and we showed some sparks in our counter-attacks. A very good team performance from a newly assembled squad. We'll be OK.

Villa are simply not fit enough for this level of football. Far too many Championship players thinking they had the same time they had last season.

They had to run twice as far because their speed of thought was causing them to chase instead of anticipate. This is no place for hoof and hope. This is no league for dwelling on the ball and trying to show off.

Villa are in huge trouble. That Wesley looks like an unfit bag of cement.
