VAR IS The Issue

Good Morning

The VAR debate rages on and going off the previous article on here, the real anger seems vented towards the law itself as opposed to the technological support.

But I think VAR is the problem because football is a sport that should flow, should be spontaneous, should have you on your feet, raging at referees and all the rest of emotions you’d expect from a 90 minute match.

I know it’s early days but even so, the game shouldn’t be an exact science. That was part of its beauty. Debating decisions amongst friends and watching rival managers take different views was all part of the game.

Having to cut short your celebrations to watch a referee draw an imaginary television with his fingers is not healthy for the game.

Goal line tech is the only one I’m convinced by. It’s quick and the right decision is reached without fuss.

But as far as the rest of it is concerned and after watching the debacle of the opening 2 weekends, I think I’d rather drop points to a dodgy call than have the game become sanitised like this.

The laws need reviewing and VAR needs chucking.

Enjoy your Sunday lads

Or they see sense and use VAR for clear and obvious errors and do what the do in the MLS and use an ‘Umpire’s call’ style system for those really tight decisions. That’s a good use of technology.

We'll have to agree to disagree there. People are going to be pretty annoyed when it goes against their club and think why have VAR in the first place if it can't even be used for the easy black and white decisions.

We’re 2 games into the season and already seen a goal ruled out when the player making the assist was 2cm ‘offside’ and a goal allowed when the assist maker was 4cm offside.

Total shambles already

Sterling didn’t score when his armpit was offside, it was Jesus

Just heard this on Sky Sports and it reminded me of this thread - 22 goals disallowed this season on marginal calls. The rule just isn’t fit for purpose when judged by the margins that VAR judges by, it needs changing ASAP.
