I think most of us believe that Ole got it wrong by starting him v Palace. This doesn't mean that he doesn't have his uses.
I thought for a long time he reminds me of the type of player we had in Park Ji Sung. Perhaps not as good though. It's not coincidence, I feel that his best games have come against the so called bigger sides where we can sacrifice a little bit of creativity as they opposition will likely be more attack minded leaving space in behind. He does press well, but this becomes a bit redundant against a well organised Premier League defence.
Mata or Gomes (who I feel is ready to get a few starts) should have started. We were always going to have the vast majority of possession and thought this was a bit of a concerning error by OGS.
Pogba was far too deep (and was poor) and it almost looked like we were going for a counter attacking game against a team happy to let us have the ball. I think we can fault the quality rather than the effort of the players in this game but I think the manager has to take the brunt of the blame for this game. Tactics and team were wrong. In case it's unclear from that, I still back the manager 100%, all managers get it wrong from time to time, especially ones with a club in transition. Hopefully this was a lesson learned for Ole and the players and we bounce back against Saints

In a 10 minute video you found one example where he passed it back from a selection of about 50 take ons and dribbles (that you're still conveniently ignoring) ... well done, that's your original statement well and truly backed up

I made a mistake, I meant he moves away from the defenders (not attackers), i.e. turns back every time he gets it.
He never takes anyone on. He gets it, stops, turns back, passes it back. Every time.
Look at Firmino or Mane, they get it and straight up run towards the goal most of the time. Lingard can never do that.
Lingard is a huge problem for any team that has him.
