What went wrong?

Sympathies for your situation, BW fans. Tragic that fans should have to go through this, we did years ago.

I confess to not having followed your club closely, but remember being surprised when Sam Allardyce was let go at that time. It all seemed to go downhill from that point on.

Anyone care to fill us in on the details or point us to an article that does?

Best of luck over the next few days!

Football is dead

It appears that way on certain boards...

You would need to be a forensic accountant to know what went wrong in detail, but it can really be summed up as taking premier league debt and premier league wages into the Championship, not getting back up at the first go, and it's a slippery slope from then on. There are various theories about Allardyce's departure:

- he was refused funding to make a couple of key signings that he felt would secure a top 4 place and resigned in protest
- he could see which way the wind was blowing and already had the Newcastle job lined up, and the row with the board was just theatre to make him look like the wronged party
- he had some personal issues of the Pulis/Gillingham variety which made it impossible for him to carry on working with the chairman at that time

Since then a fair few managerial careers have gone down with the good ship Bolton. The only one who can really say that he has gone on to have a more successful career is Neil Lennon

I am in the USA. Do you have standing to have the books and records examined?

Er, no: threshold for that was having £25000 going spare. Out of my league!

No one knows?

No one cares to share?

It's far too complicated and stretches back to Eddie Davies's day. To even scratch the surface would take far too long. Just to say it's been a long time coming. The EFL is complicit in our downfall as well as an owner who thought that he could make a quick buck.

The very fact that we were in EFL's financial special measures for a season - whereby they monitored our spending - I think proves it's both the whim of a madman and an impotent league chief executive looking out for his mate.
