All time PL penalty statistics - updated

Here are the Premier League all time statistics for the 6 ever present clubs in the PL era:

Penalties for:

Penaltypool - 151
Man Utd - 136
Chelsea - 128
Arsenal - 124
Everton - 112
Spurs - 108

Others worthy of a mention Man City 108, Newcastle United 107

Penalties against:

Spurs - 110
Everton - 103
Arsenal - 103
Liverpool - 94
Chelsea - 69
Man Utd - 63

Others worthy of a mention Aston Villa 109, Newcastle 106, WHU 101

Difference between penalties for and against:

Man Utd +73
Chelsea +59
Liverpool +57
Arsenal +21
Everton +9
Spurs -2

So to summarize, unsurprisingly Man Utd have enjoyed the most fortune with penalty kicks, probably due to the Gammon Face era, Chelsea come in second, probably due to their brown paper bag era and Pool well clear in third, due to general benefit of doubt.

Any surprises?

Surprising that Everton come in 5th, considering they have been mid table and lower for a large percentage of the PL era.

Unbelievably, Spurs have conceded more penalties than they have been awarded in the PL era, and out of all the ever present clubs have conceded the most and been awarded the fewest penalty kicks.

Penaltypool

Sterling and Suarez must account for a lot of those.

That’s not that surprising

We were pretty rubbish for the first 10 plus years of the PL and the other ever presents are Arsenal, Pool, Utd, Chelsea, Everton. Only surprising is that Everton have conceded fewer then us

Because its subjective there won't be stats on it but nailed on pens that weren't given for the 6 teams would be interesting.

I remember thinking when we didn't get the late obvious pen on Son against Liverpool at Wembley last season that at least VAR would mean it didn't happen anymore. Well after the Kane one against Newcastle wasn't given nothing seems to have changed.

Amazing stats that those bin-dippers don't mention. Even in the CL final they were awarded a pen! Mind boggling
A pen within 2 min of a very important final with the ball hitting the hand, rather than the other way?

When there is certain pen for us, the ref has either not "seen" the incident or doesn't feel the push/throwing on the floor to stop Kane is strong enough.

It's hard to beat a side that is such a beneficial of dubious calls like Liverpool is

Hoping this season, they'll be hard done by like never before
It's only fair

I didn't watch any analysis of the game because I was so disgusted by the result but I was told it wasn't given because the ref didn't have a clear view of the incident. Is that not exactly the sort of situation that VAR is there to help with?

Great article Billy, proving once and for all that Liverpool have been the most favoured with penalties during the Prem era.

Five stars from me.
