Playing Injured

From today's MB press conference:

"Pablo Hernandez is not able to play. He has a problem, a muscular problem. He felt that warming up in the last match. He tolerated the game, but today he is not good.

He’s not well enough to play. Helder Costa will play."

Many thought Pablo had a poor game against Derby. Now it appears he was injured before the game.

Very poor decision, whomever had the knowledge and took it last week!

The injury is probably a blessing as we are forced to rest him now. We've overplayed him the last couple of season's.

Do you think he will start with Helder and Eddie and drop Harrison? They look great together. And what about Roberts or Shack? This looks like a great opportunity to try out a couple of different formations.

I think it was also implied that Forshaw would be back. It may be I rely too much on commentators but I hadn't noticed Shackleton having as good an impact on games as the much maligned Forshaw.

Do you mean as and when Pablo returns or now? Costa had little to no impact against Derby at a time when his pace should have.
We need Bamford up front and I would be in favour of trying to accommodate him and Eddie, Eddie is a natural goal scorer but cannot do what Bamford does.

Pablo at this age cannot do a Bielsa season. I expect him to feature far less this season.

pablo is so important for the team he has to be protected better. there is no point putting him in the lineup if he's not 100%. costa has to start showing his worth to the team and this is a no lose situation.

Totally agree re Pablo being overplayed last season. Same with Klich really. Start using the depth of squad we now have (MB stated it himself, all the players will be needed).
It is always a bad idea to start a player who is injured in my view. The scenarios range from a) make the injury worse so they are out for even longer, b) they need to be subbed after a short time thereby wasting a sub, c) they are off the pace so let an opponent by they should be stopping or d) they miss a chance or fail with a pass they would normally make when fit.

With the intensity required for Bielsa ball there is no room for anyone who is not 100% fit

He’s been a bit off the pace and well below his usual high standard. Hopefully the rest will do him good and he comes back to his best soon.
