It was 1982 and I was in the school library with
my mate who supports Fulham.He was much
more fanatical about them as a 15 year old.
Now most libraries have a silence rule but this
place was more like a common room
Fulham were on course for promotion that season
and he was chanting "going up going up" at every oppurtunity.
This included going up to random people and
chanting it. He approached this Asian kid and started
chanting going up going up and clapping his hands
above his head.
The Asian kid took this as some form of racist abuse
and angrily attacked the Fulham supporter in the school library.
The school librarian came to break this up
Both protested. One about racism and the other
that he was only singing "going up".
Both got sent out of the library
I found the whole thing hilarious
If this happened in modern times though that
Fulham fan would have been given a lot harder
time

Many years ago me and a group of friends were headed into London to watch a game. We'd had a few shandies on the way and by the time we got to Liverpool Street things were getting lively. Cue the underground - a mix of us used to getting around down there and others not so much. The train pulls in and half the group jump aboard. But something's wrong. It's headed in the wrong direction. We charge across the platform to the right train, only for a one of the group to be left behind wondering what's happening. We're shouting and he's running, the desperate look of a lost child on his face. Just as he reaches the doors they begin to close, slamming on his backpack inches behind his head. I'll never forget the look on his face as he went from a full sprint to a stop in a fraction of a second. If I ever need a laugh I think of that moment. Fackin pure physical comedy.
