On Saturday Wolves welcome Southampton to Molineux.
After a slow start to their league season Wolves have the bit between their teeth now having beaten Watford 2-0 at home and Manchester City by the same score at the Etihad in their 2 previous games.
Since the start of their current campaign which began on 25 July, Wolves have now played 17 games, won 9, drawn 5 and lost 3. During that period they have beaten current Premier League champions Manchester City twice.
With the international break having given most of the players a well deserved rest and with star forward Diogo Jota hopefully recovered from his foot injury, with the exception of Romain Saiss who is out with a hamstring injury, Nuno could possibly have a well rested full squad to choose from for the first time since the start of the season.
Currently occupying 17th place in the table with just 7 points Southampton have also had a poor start to the season with 2 wins (against Brighton and Sheffield United), 1 draw and 5 losses.
In the equivalent game last season Wolves won 2-0 with Southampton taking a 3-1 win at St Mary’s in the return fixture in April.
On a run of 3 wins in all comps, with strikers Jimenez and Jota rested and fully fit and with the home crowd behind them, Wolves should certainly be taking all 3 points from this game, however the home side do have a history of below par performances when returning from international breaks so nothing is guaranteed.
