Pepe - A synonym for failure

I'm getting sick of people constantly defending Pepe, saying how he needs 'time to adapt' and 'doesn't know the league or the team.'

He doesn't bloody know where the goal is! For £72m he should be converting chances regularly, and what does he have to his name? An assist, a pity penalty conversion, and a lot of 'played, subbed off' notes next to his name.

The areas where he is failing - decision making, finishing - are not areas affected by 'being new and settling in'. His miss yesterday was inexcusable. The more we play him, the longer we play with ten men. Walcott used to get stick for being nothing but a speed demon, but at least he knew how to finish. Pepe is a Walcott downgrade.

Mark my words - the way he is going, Nicolas Pepe will go down as the worst flop in league history unless he does something very drastic, very quickly.

Any hope of Zaha was dead when Everton entered the bidding process.

Yesterday he was best player on the pitch. Yeah he had one chance but no one takes all chances, Salah needs 3-4 chances to score one goal. Aubameyang is very lethal this season, but that won't last forever, when we create 4 real chances for Pepe and he misses every of them, then you can judge him.

He’s been creating chances most games he’s played, and probably contributed more than any other attacker last night. He’s far from our biggest issue at the moment, so no point piling in on him. Yes he should of scored last night, but Auba misses sitters as well. He needs to improve for sure. But while the midfield is totally absent and not creating chances for anyone, or giving the ball to an attacker in advanced areas, all our attackers will struggle to make an impact.

All of our forwards are constantly dropping deep to get the ball, and are rarely receiving it in dangerous areas. Pepe nor any other forward can be relied on to win a game with no midfield help every game, improve that and I believe the attackers will be more effective.

I raise you 50m Fred with no discernible skill set.

Also that one is funnier because it was a red herring from Pep that Ed chomped on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure that’s raising considering he was 25m less and not as highly rated

More of a flop though.

Pepe isn't yet a flop, just struggling. If he's still missing open goals and barely contributing next season then he will have it over Fred.

watch the full game last night (I was bored and on RWC & EPL come down), I thought he looked a very tidy player with bags of potential.

Must admit, its the chances such as the one he missed that distinguish the "could be's" to the finished article, but it's rare we see a player come across to the EPL and bed-in seamlessly - especially at his age.

You've got that settled in almost immediately, like RVN, Torres, Suarez, Auba to an extent...and then players like Evra, Vidic, Henry(!), Drogba that took a bit more time but turned into world class players of their own accord.

When we play Palace on Sunday we may be wishing we had persisted with Zaha instead. Some already may
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We were never going to afford a reasonable down payment for Zaha, much less negotiate anything close to his asking price.

A lot of people made fun of our rumoured £50m summer transfer budget, but it has proven to be eerily accurate.

The £21.7m that we expect to spend on Pepe's first instalment and wages in this financial year is almost half of the £54m total annual costs for Ceballos, Martinelli, Luiz, Saliba, Tierney and Pepe combined.

To be fair I though Pepe had one of his better games , the glaring miss aside he put in a fair shift. My worry about him is how left footed he is , he is easy to stop if you force him to his right foot and PL defenders will have sussed that out before he’d even kicked his first ball for us.
