On Sunday Wolves travel to the North East to take on Newcastle United.

After following a stunning victory against Manchester City with a poor performance at home last Saturday which resulted in the home side taking just 1 point from a struggling Southampton, some Wolves fans must be starting to wonder if they are going to see a repeat of last season when Wolves did so well against the top 6 sides but struggled against lower league teams.

On Thursday Wolves travelled to Slovakia to face Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League and have just 2 days to prepare for this game however their 2-1 victory will have done nothing to dent their confidence and they go into this game having been unbeaten in 7 games in all competitions.

The controversial appointment of ex-Sunderland manager Steve Bruce who replaced Rafa Benitez in July is yet to bear fruit. Newcastle find themselves in the relegation zone with just 8 points from 9 games however as 5 of those games have been against β€˜Big 6’ sides it is perhaps not such a big surprise. Although, ironically 6 of that points total came from wins against Spurs and Manchester United.

Wolves may be without defender Ryan Bennett who missed the mid week game due to a groin injury. Also missing from the squad was forward Pedro Neto who has a heel injury.

The last time the two sides met was in Nanjing, China in July when Wolves won 4-0 on their way to lifting the Asia Trophy. However that was then and this is now. Since then The Magpies have added record signing Joelinton and French attacker Allan Saint-Maximin to their ranks and are definitely not a side to be underestimated.

The game will be shown live on Sky Sports

Willy Bolly has fractured his ankle in training. 😟

posted on 26/10/19

Wolves head of medical Phil Hayward has confirmed that Willy Boly sustained a ‘serious injury’ in training this morning.
The defender is currently undergoing tests on a suspected ankle fracture and has not travelled with the rest of the squad to Newcastle for tomorrow’s Premier League fixture at St James’ Park.

Hayward said: “Unfortunately, Willy Boly sustained a serious injury to his left ankle in training earlier today.

“Initial tests show a fracture to his fibula, and he will undergo further imaging over the coming days to determine whether surgery is required or not.

“If surgery is required that will take place during the next week.”

Hayward also provided updates on a number of other injuries in the squad.

He said: “Ryan Bennett is recovering well from his adductor injury. He has now started outdoor rehab and he will return to training in the coming days.

“Pedro Neto has progressed well with his outdoor rehab this week and has trained with the squad ahead of tomorrow’s game against Newcastle.

“Bruno Jordao has trained for the last two days and is progressing well. We expect him to be fit for selection very soon.

“Finally, Meritan Shabani underwent surgery to repair his right ACL, which went very well with the surgeon very pleased with the outcome. He has now returned to Compton to begin his early stages of rehabilitation

Vallejo really does look poor but just maybe he needs some games to get going, just don't see him getting that chance.

Most of his mistakes look like they come from nerves and lack of game time to me. I think he has been written off too early by a lot of fans.

Wouldn't mine seeing Dendoncker in the back three tomorrow though.

Yes just looked at the table. A win tomorrow and we will be at least 8th. And if Spurs lost at Anfield, and Palace at Arsenal, we could even be 6th.
