Why are we so poor?

Honestly not fussed about going out of the league cup, although winning it is obviously nicer than not.

The issues are ones with the manager, he needs to go. It's not about one individual performance or result it's about over a year of tactical failings.

Our poor defence record is mostly down to poor coaching across the whole team when we don’t have the ball. We basically have average CBs who are put under too much pressure too often and having to make too many desperate challenges. I think if you put most of our CBs in a different team, you wouldn’t see them making so many mistakes. Like mustafi OG last night, kolasinac wanders off, willock doesn’t track a run, then ox has an age to pick a cross out. Of course mustafi can do better there, but it’s put him in a desperate situation where if he doesn’t get a touch they score. Lots of good CBs will concede own goals like that. But it’s the ease that we let teams into dangerous areas that’s the main concern for me over mustafi scoring an OG.

We need better defenders, but the amount of space we give attackers out wide and in front of the defence is crazy. No team could be successful like that. Our shape is poor, and we can’t hold onto the ball to pin teams back for more than about 30 seconds. It’s just poor coaching, it’s obvious our defenders aren’t the best aspect of the team, so we need to find a solution as a team where they are not asked to desperately defend with every opposition attack. Emery hasn’t been able to figure out how to do that

Tierney was hooked for Kolasinac at the weekend too.

The manager has a breeze block for a brain.

Taking Ozil off was a terrible decision. What was he thinking?

Most coaches in the Prem could sort out the defence and MF and give us some shape and pattern of play. Emery is just completely out of his depth . The biggest issue facing this club is Auba and Laca not signing new contracts . If we lose them we are totally screwed. Emery needs to be replaced NOW.

The most worrying issue is that lasts nights defence was very experienced and has played in the PL but Liverpools kids still put 5 past us

What “A Catalyst For Change” said above, Ozil is the number 1 culprit. Letting the opposition attack waltz by him. No matter how well he plays in attack, he won't tackle, won't track and simply gifts attackers the space and time they need whilst overstrecthing the defence behind him. I never watched the game last night but that is the Ozil M.O and I've no doubt that's what Emery was seeing and thinking about, when he took him off.
