If they were looking to immediately reinvest in a forward it may tempt them but Jan is a notoriously hard window to get decent value in for clubs at this level.

I don’t get the impression Forest are looking to spend big. The signings they have made already with the cure even scouting system have been considered rather than eye catching.

None of the teams linked with Cash are likely to really excite him either. He would be better waiting for the summer and, if Forest haven’t got up, considering his options then.

Yes, when you consider what some Championship players went for in the summer. Cash has a lot of first team experience under his belt already so his price should be rocketing.

Most seem to be saying no but I think if the question was Sell Matty Cash, and use the money to buy a RB on a par with Yuri Ribeiro, a midfielder on a par with Samba Sow and a decent back up striker to cover for Lewis Grabban then the answer would be different.

Buying and selling players is all about timing but it is always a gamble.

Yes, it is always a gamble. You could sell the next England right back for a relative pittance if you’re not careful, for example. Cash could also lose form as easily as he has found it. Forest are in a very strong bargaining position at the moment, though, thankfully. Won’t see a Fawaz-type panic sale you’d hope.

Lolley hasn’t been at his best for most of the season but he has been far from unproductive in fairness. Villa surely turned his head and he will no doubt have a little “what if?” in the back of his mind. You would hope that he will be inspired by the form the team is showing at the moment and the league position to potentially get to the Prem with Forest.
