FOREST v CARDIFF - Match Thread

Here we are again, just days after a thumping away win at QPR

Cardiff will be a tough proposition, and I think if we not totally in the right mind set and on our game, we could be in for a nasty surprise

We have a great opportunity once again to strengthen our hold on a playoff place, and hopefully even make ground on the top two - but it will need to be a very well thought and executed plan in order to get all 3 points

Patience, focus and mental strength throughout the whole team will be needed

Having got 3 points in midweek, it slightly takes the pressure of us to get all 3 against Cardiff, but if we’re serious about Promotion, then we should settle for nothing less that a win - these kind of games will show whether we’ve got the mental strength to be serious contenders

But Cardiff having been a Premiership team just last season (thanks strett), always seem to give Forest problems - I just hope their indifferent start to the season continues against us

A draw wouldn’t be a disaster, but I’m really hoping we can kick on and keep the pressure on those teams above us - Cardiff are there for the taking if Forest really want it and are in the right frame of mind

Here’s hoping the manager has the whole team totally focused and ready for the challenge ahead

With the Autos I think it’ll be that West Brom romp it and one of ourselves, Fulham and Leeds have a chance of the other. Our chance slimmer than the others.

I still think we’ll make the play-offs. Where I’d fancy us to beat any one on our day.

I agree about Ribeiro. A big miss. Semedo, Sow or Yates needed in the middle. Also agree about Lolley but we don’t have enough options.

I think our 1st 11 can beat anyone, but Adamoah, Mir and Robinson not quite good enough.

Loved Samba running up to give free kick advice. The butter!

Possibly Yates alongside Watson, with Silva fort her forward but still leaves the attack to isolated, also not enough supporting goals from midfield.
Another thing I have noticed about the Championship this season, not only are the teams very, so are the majority of the officials, in fact some are very poor. How was there only 1 minute added at the end of the first half, when Cardiff’s celebrations were at least twice that, I am not advocating sopping celebrations, just balance out the time. We should also probably have had a peabalty for handball, but that would have been the lino’s call.

Just want to reiterate your well made points Dave. For a professional footballer to fail to get the ball past the first defender from a corner is shocking and we did it a few times yesterday.

Our opponents know that Grabbs is our only striker so put one defender tight and a second covering, he has very little chance against this. When Grabbs drops a bit deeper neither Lolley, nor especially Carvalho is brave enough to run beyond him and go where it hurts. Nor does Carvalho have a long range shot to match Guedioura.

As well as another striker we also need a goal scoring central midfielder in the January sales.

Agree with that. Quality of crossing is a major minus point. Not got an obvious target like a Darryl Murphy or Darius Henderson to aim for. If Lolley is carrying an injury they’re taking a real chance with him. I suppose it isn’t unusual to have players playing who aren’t 100% fit but fingers crossed it is an injury that is improving with playing and ongoing treatment, not being worsened.

Oooh...look at you showing off after your draw at home to QPR.

We’re 4th...with a game in hand btw. Your probably more concerned with the bottom half of the table though.

Rooney to be player manager by the end of Jan, Rameses?

Roone will be spending a lot of time up at Moore Farm Inn drinking with his mates, I would have thought?

WBA score a 90th minute winner against Preston, which is exactly why the are nailed on Automatics

Forest unfortunately just don’t have that ability or mentality this season - we’re possibly good enough for a Playoff place, but that’s it

Rev, with their parachute payments and quality of squad from their Prem days, they should be ahead of the likes of Forest. Whether they can maintain it is another matter. It was the most fortunate of penalties for them last night so maybe they riding a bit of a luck wave at the moment. Will they keep rising that vest it can the likes of Fulham, Leeds and Forest put pressure on them?...
