Bolton Wanderers v Shrewsbury Town

The last fixture of 2019 and a year all Bolton fans will want to forget. We started the year 4th bottom of the championship, a few hours later after a 6-0 defeat by hull we were in the relegation zone and have been there ever since. Relegation in april, players not paid for months, a summer in administration, the club on the brink of extinction before football ventures took over. Won't be sorry to see the back of it. Today's opposition Shrewsbury town, 3 years ago Bolton did the double, a 2-1 win on boxing day with 2 goals from David wheater. Looking back not one of that match day squad remain at the club after Ben alnwicks departure on boxing day. Shrewsbury comfortably in mid table are managed by ex Bolton full back Sam ricketts. Team news. No new injuries reported so expecting an unchanged side. 2 home games (Burton on new years day) back to back Bolton really need to win if they are to close the gap to safety.

At least we got a point. I'm disapointed we didn't get all three but it's better than nothing.

Lowe owes his team mates a few beers

I'd give him a swift kick up the backside.

I'll edit Bridcutt and Lowe out of the team sheet in preparation for the next game.
There's going to be a lot riding on this transfer window.

Hung in there at the end. Needed the win but at least a point keeps an unbeaten run going. I'm coming round to hill and flitcroft being the right men for where we are now. Seems a lot of spirit on the pitch. Just need better players than what we have now. Some arnt good enough or durable enough.

New Year's eve, I wish all the members of our forum a prosperous and healthy New Year. My tip for tonight is don't get too inebriated, you know that you will regret it on New years morning. Drink responsibly but have a good time.

I don't do new years eve, too many amateur drinkers about who can't hold their beer, going out friday instead. I'll be tucked up at midnight and up bright and early to do the match thread and go to the burton match.

We went for a family meal at the Bay Horse Inn and restaurant at Forton, just off the A6 to Lancaster. Good food in a good setting. That was at Lunchtime which ran on until around 5:30. from there we went to our son's house. The idea was to eat and relax. The problem was we were all stuffed so we ate very little despite my son and his partner being excellent hosts and making sure that we were well looked after. I and the missus bid them farewell around 1:30 in the morning and made our way back to the lodge for a good night's sleep.

So today we host Burton Albion. Three points would be a massive lift for us and hopefully lift us off the bottom of the table. I see that Nigel Clough has had a dig regarding the unfairness of not being able to play us in August when the youth team was playing losing every game bar one when we drew.

When will these managers just accept that is the reality of the situation, it is as it is. We as a club are still at a disadvantage with a threadbare squad so although things could have been better we and they have to accept the facts.

Looking at this new year 2020. I don't think that we could possibly have such a disastrous year as 2019. We seem to have a good management team in charge that is letting the professionals get on with their jobs.

Despite the obvious financial and embargo constraints, I'm confident that the management team will do its utmost to sort out the problems that we face and eventually stabilise the club and get us moving onwards and upwards.

So, here is to a great 2020.
