Who plays?

Suddenly Cocu has options all over the pitch.

Three very good displays on the bounce. So if Cocu asked you to save him a headache and pick the team for the away trip to Boro, who would make your eleven.

Available
Keepers- Roos, Hamer.
Defenders- Bogle, Wisdom, Clarke, Davies, Forsyth, Lowe, Malone.
Midfield- Rooney, Huddlestone, Beilik, Knight, Bird, Lawrence, Holmes, Sibley.
Forwards. Martin, Marriott, Whitaker, Waghorn.

How do you pick 11 from that lot. The way we’ve performed who do you drop?

My 11 though I could easily change my mind.

Hamer
Wisdom, Beilik, Clarke, Lowe.
Huddlestone, Rooney
Holmes, Knight.
Marriott, Martin.

We are suddenly looking a very different animal.

So do I. But surely something footy related has happened in the last 3 hours and 46 minutes?

Apparently not.

I think Davies might still be important at the back as a more mature head; he's looked a much better player without the burden of Captain role already.

Or just having a more cohesive midfield in front of the back four..

Spot on, Jorv.
I always thought that about Keogh too, when the armband theory cropped up.

Sign someone decent quickly so that we can get excited some more! Ideally the Croat so we can make comparisons to the great Igor and then follow that up with a gangly Costa Rican forward so we can really lose our sh......... iiiiit .

I'm really enjoying the feeling of being on a three match unbeaten run. 😜 The first half of this season really well and truly did bring me down like it must have for many fans. Saturdays were a complete bar steward. Here's hoping we can get a result against Middlesbrough and make Steve Gibbo's weekend suck.

Ang, the midfield have to give the defence some protection, or you are going to concede goals, no matter who is wearing the armband.

Best form of defence is attack.

The modern trend is to attack in numbers, then if you lose the ball, first try and win it back. If that doesn't work put the ball out of play. If that doesn't work commit a professional foul. Almost 80% of the fouls committed by Liverpool and Man City are in their opponent's half. Referees rarely book players for these types of foul and it is difficult to create a scoring opportunity from so far out so it is seen as a legitimate tactic.

It is the smart thing to do and we should be coaching our lads to do it.

Agreed Spart, but why take off your centre forward and bring on a poor left back and then give the momentum to the opposition? It's not like we've got Bucko to come on!

That may be so Spart, but the back 4/3 still need protection...
