Rooney is better than Ronaldo

This isn't going to be a very popular opinion, but I think Rooney is better than Ronaldo. No doubt people will start throwing childish insults at me for expressing my opinion, but I've been wanting to say this for ages.

Now, first things first, they're obviously both great players but imo Rooney's all-round game is better.

Lets compare their abilities:

Passing - Rooney is definitely a better passer of the ball. No doubt.

Shooting - people will laugh at me for saying this but imo Rooney also has a better shot on him. People seem to forget how often Ronaldo shoots during a match (every 2-3 minutes).

Crossing - Rooney again.

Dribbling - easily Ronaldo.

Set Pieces - definitely Rooney. Rooney can take corners and free kicks from non-shooting positions. Ronaldo can't. He just smashes the ball as hard as he can whenever his team earns a free kick anywhere near the opposition team's goal. One in every 30 efforts is a goal.

Heading - Ronaldo wins this one. Only just though.

Work Rate - do I even need to say anything?

Versatility - they're both pretty versatile. Draw.

Don't get me wrong, I think Ronaldo is a world class player, but imo Rooney is just out of this world. He has everything you could want in a player. And to add to his footballing ability he has work rate. Someone that most top players don't have these days.

Marks out of ten:

Passing: 7/10 for Rooney, 6/10 Ronaldo
Shooting: 9/10 for Rooney, 10/10 Ronaldo
Crossing: 7/10 for Rooney:, 7/10 Ronaldo
Dribbling: 8/10 for Rooney, 10/10 Ronaldo
Set-Pieces: 8/10 for Rooney, 9/10 Ronaldo
Heading: 7/10 for Rooney, 9/10 Ronaldo
Work Rate: 9/10 for Rooney, 5/10 Ronaldo
Versatility: 7/10 for Rooney, 7/10 Ronaldo

Ronaldo shades it on this score, but the only reason thats the case is because of 'work rate'. If you to look at it in terms of Flair and attacking ability, Ronaldo wins hands down

Don't know if anyone's said this - but have you factored in the issue of consistency?

As much as I despise CR, even on his off days he has the ability to carry a menace and produce something out of one of his 17 shots. Rooney has off days where you could actually mistake him for a Sunday League player.

I dunno, rooney was pretty poor last weekend and still scored

I don't think I've ever seen CR look as poor as WR did at the World Cup.

Didn't Ronaldo go like the first half of last season without even scoring? I couldn't see Rooney doing something like that.

Rooney sets Goalscoring record.

Wayne Rooney became the first player to score nine goals in the group stage of the Champions League as Manchester United finished their campaign with a win at chilly Old Trafford.
