Expected to be battered and yep not disappointed,
When in general us lower teams play the top two its a foregone conclusion from KO.
That is along with VAR is what is ruining football for the majority in the premier league. If it wasn't for runners up places to go into europe it would be boring.
If we want to survive in this league then today apart from the hideous goal difference swing we only have to concentrate on beating the teams in the bottom half and sneak points against the weaker top teams.
I wasn't at Villa today but had tickets to Bournemouth and Watford with family and Bournemouth are actually awful.
Our recruitment in the summer was poor we left ourselves so short up front and that is what will probably send us down unless...........
We did buy some very mediocre players for a lot of money and that shows against the better teams especially.
You want to play against the best but there is a huge gap between top and bottom. It is sad to say and I don't want really to go back but it was far more exciting in the Championship.
The Premier League isn't alone all over its pretty much the same teams at the top.
Against City who are a very good side and with no Centre Forward and little experience as I say forget today, I just wanna cry
Villa till I die.
Forget today

Starting Drinkwater was the first mistake today
Need another 2/3 signings this window I’d say another midfielder and a striker

Sell Kodja and 2 decent strikers. Although who will come will be interesting.

Whoever we get I must admit i'm still disillusioned as to the performance and gap between us and them however good they are.

I gave up at half time tbh, I am not convinced by Hause or Konsa, what’s up with Engels? And why Guilbert didn’t start today
Taylor, Elmo the two above, Lansbury, Kodija shouldn’t be near the starting line up
Konsa May be a bit harsh tho

Our signings have been awful … Smacks of the season we got relegated previously .. Wesley, Nakamba, Luiz are dreadful footballers …

My take: reckon Guilbert was rested, as he put a lot into the Leicester game, and DS wants him fresh for the games which matter; can't see any other reason, Elmo might offer a smidgen more in defense but against MC not enough to matter. Reckon Drinkwater was played because DS needs him match fit and the only way to do that is to play him; hopefully he too is in a better state for the matches coming up.
Thought El Ghazi played well. Put his heart into playing an unfamiliar role and won a number of the punts upfield which Wesley probably wouldn't have.
Mystery about Engels. When he was playing I put him alongside Mings in quality and way ahead of Konsa and Hause. Konsa is doing better than expected but Hause's lack of experience is beginning to show.
Wouldn't say our purchases were mediocre. Thought they were bargain buys considering what we paid for them. But collectively there's a lack of experience. It's up front where things are really too weak. Wesley was beginning to look better but still not the force we need, Kodjia doesn't seem rated by DS and looks like wants out.
Drinkwater might yet prove a good signing. We need to solve the problem up front, probably a striker and a winger. And we're still weak at left back.
Next 3 games are vital. 6 points and we're well on course to avoid relegation. Anything less than 3 and it's not looking good.

Bargain buys ??!!!!! Are you serious .. Nakamba is like Sylla, a rabbit in headlights, Luiz no better, thinks he's a lot better than he actually is … Trezeguet another who has not cut it in this league .. Yes you can give them time but how much time ?!!!!!
