Aberdeen 1 v 2 Celtic

There are certain games that show your title credentials and yesterday was one that showed why we are and will be champions again come May.

That’s now 18 wins from our last 19 league games, 9 wins in a row since we started back up after the winter break.

Yesterday wasn’t ideal conditions for good football but we also didn’t help ourselves at times. Too many players didn’t quite hit the mark yesterday but none of them were short of effort or desire to get the win and that was the most important aspect yesterday.

I thought Forrest in wee spells was very good, Edouard has some nice touches and was kicked to flook at every opportunity so their game plan was clear. As was their tactics, dive, send free kick into the box, simple but effective you could say

The first goal for us came against the run of play, but it’s good play from Griffiths, McKenna had to be much stronger. Forrest does very well and McGregor popping up with another goal.

The Aberdeen goal was a bit of a shambles from our POV, Ajer and Biton didn’t cover themselves in glory.

After that it felt like we couldn’t get out our own half at times, there was just a complete lack of control in the game and it wasn’t like us.

That said, the winner is a terrific goal, Forsters kick out right into Eddy’s toe and then the back heel was sublime. After that Forrest does brilliantly well to keep his composure and pick the right pass. What a finish it is from Ajer, 81 minutes, souls of the blue persuasion in despair, more flip flops tossed at their good Hitachi.

Splendid.

Onwards we go and next up is Copenhagen, send it right on

It wouldn't reduce to just any number though. If Morelos pushes for a move and the best offer is 2m Rangers will accept? They'll tell him to knuckle down and earn a bigger move cause that's just not a figure they're taking with years left on his deal
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed it wouldn't but if we set a 20m fee for him and buying sides value him at no more than 15m.

We have two choices, take the 15m offer that exists and don't risk having an unhappy player on your books (in our case, one who is a lunatic)

Or hold out that he will increase his value to buying clubs by 5m with a year less on his deal and potentially a spat with the club.

In those circumstances in my book you take the money and run.

seems to me that Aberdeen need to sell McKenna

they need the money desperately
—-
They’ll accept whatever they’re given and they’ll be pathetically grateful for it.

Pure tugging their dirty forelock to whichever one of the OF disdainfully throws a few shilling at them.

“Thank you, M’Lord. Please borrow my daughter.”

Great win, albeit a pretty meh performance. One we just had to dig out in dire conditions. Could be a hugely significant 3 pts come the end of the season ... also might not be the last time we're at 'Todders this campaign. If the current top 6 stays the same, there's a 50/50 chance we'll be back up there for a THIRD time in the league, and 1 other top 6 side away for a 3rd time as well.

It's fine - they owe us for the final day of the season win to secure 2nd, 2 years ago.

As it stands we’d be due 5 home games in the split

Indeed, which is what’s causing us the problem. That would give us 21 home, 17 away for the season, which obviously ain’t happening ... so we’d need to play 2 of the top 6 for a THIRD time away to “balance it up”. Of course it doesn’t balance anything, as that’s a clear disadvantage to us (or any other team put in the same position). Ludicrous scenario, but obviously not a new one.

With the position we’re in just now we should be looking to wrap it up the game before the split begins anyway.

True. Point still stands though. It’s a ludicrous potential scenario ... again.
