Sheffield Wednesday 1 - 3 Derby County

Hillsborough
Sheffield

Well, this date for a Saturday football match won't come round for another 30 years.

The short journey to Sheffield will have the head scratches wondering why is our away form so 5hit but the more pragmatic saying it's because we're so 5hit?

After Marriot's cameo role against QPR, we are still racking out what makes this player tick. As a team, we're still failing to convert chances and it now stands, as before last game that we have the 2nd best home record in the league and the 2nd worst away record.........

George Who is available after his latest injury woe but where he could slot in, is anyone's guess. We've had more changes than RD after a race incident.

Team news:-

Hamer
Wisdom
Forsyth
Waghorn
Lawrence
Clarke
Martin
Rooney
Bogle
Knight
Bird

Subs: Roos, Shinnie, Marriot, Lowe, Davies, Sibley, Whittaker

Yes I thought Hughes had a very good game, maybe not man of the match but very neat and tidy in possession. He looks after the ball like it is a precious thing. To be fair to Pearson he is making good use of him and he fits in well with the more athletic and powerful players around him in the Watford team.

Thought Sarr was MOTM for Watford but apparently Hughes had a good game.

Just saw the goals on Facebook, first one Lawrence's shot appeared to be going out of play before a fortuitous deflection. Hard to credit Martin with an assist for that.

I’d say Martin clearly gets the assist for the first. The ball came to him quick and he was able to get it to an area where an attacker could come on to it. There would have been no opportunity without Martin’s intelligent knock back. Ergo he gets the assist. Also Lawrence’s effort looked on target to me.

Have a look and check the angles. Lawrence mishit it and the ball was going wide of the far post. Really an own goal. They all count though. Looks like Lawrence has been encouraged to shoot more and faff about less.

Spart, I've seen a different player in Lawrence. I knew posters would take the proverbial with me as I have criticised him so much. The TL I criticised is not the same as the TL now, he is shooting at goal, helping in defence and passing the ball to other players. I'm pleased for him and if Rooney did nothing else, he has earned his money by sorting him out.

I've seen the goal but I can't say whether it would have missed, but it went in and please don't take Martin's assist away, he needs all the help he can get to be a regular in the manager's eyes.

I was pleased that Forsyth was back, it was when I saw the team that I thought that we would win. Please Mr Cocu, keep attacking and no more Nigel subs.

I can't take Martin's assist away and it could be argued he set up Lawrence so it was an assist. The fact that Lawrence didn't quite execute the shot as he wanted doesn't detract from the work Martin did.

We have won three away games this season and Lawrence has scored 5 times in those 3 games. I wonder what the key to winning away might be?

The key to scoring is having a shot, not trying to dribble the ball in to the net.

Can't get a deflected goal without putting you laces through it first.

Our esteemed ex manager made a career of deflected goals. Hit it hard and in the right direction and you always have a chance in crowded penalty area.
