Arsenal reject 5m bid for clichy

Arsenal have rejected Liverpool’s £5 million offer for left-back Gael Clichy, deeming it ‘derisory’ for a player of the Frenchman’s quality.

What do you guys think about Clichy potentially leaving? Say if we get a bid around 10m for him I think we should sell him and buy a replacement. Wouldn't mind if he signed a contract, just feel it would be better if he stays since he is good on his day and it would be less of hassle than searching for a replacement. We should be focusing on buying a center back, central midfielder and striker/winger.

5m for Clichy? Liverpool paying 5m over the odds again, I see.

I'm delighted to see him leaving, but there must be a replacement in mind and it shouldn't be Kieran Gibbs. I think he should only go for something closer to the ten million mark. I also think he might fare well with Liverpool who I think would encourage Clichy to play a simpler game. They'll suffer defensively though, especially if his brainless brother from another mother is playing at right-back, Glen Johnson.

It looks like Arsenal are ready to cut their losses, but not at 5 million. Had a lot of chat with peeps on the board onFriday about Clichy.

Good player, commited, full of running, but incredibly error-prone!

Even though Clichy has only 1 year to run on his contract, he's worth more than 5 million!

I can see him moving to Spain or Italy.

I just hope Arsenal bite the bullet and sign a classy replacement as with the best will in the world I'm very dubious Gibbs is ready to "step up" and that's without even taking into account his shocking injury record.

Personally I'd love Baines (although he'd cost a lot of money) or even Enrique from Newcastle who looked consistant and superb all last season!

Yeah if we get a good offer of around 10m hopefully from abroad we will accept with no second thought. Jose Enrique would be my no1 choice for a replacement, looked quality every time I saw him play last season even against bigger teams.

he's only 25. I'm sure he could get better. He'll always have a cocckup now and again tho. I'm sure he would be fantastic in spain.
