this season. I thought I would just go to the games, win, lose or draw, and more or less write the season off. Mostly down to the really negative stuff pervading this site right now. God knows how some of you would have handled the Relegation season. It doesn`t bear thinking about.
However, having been at WHL again last night, I have to say this season looks like the prelude to history repeating itself. In the 1970s, Spurs were winning trophies in the early part of the decade, including a European Trophy, also reaching another European final, then in the space of a year or two, players were getting older, and either leaving or retiring, and a relegation battle became the order or the day, one was survived, but the second relegation battle wasn`t. And down Spurs went. And the rebuild began, very successfully it has to be said.
Watching last night, it had exactly the same feel, Spurs best team of the Prem era was no more, even though it won nothing, it was still a very fine side. Last night there was no Lloris, Walker, Toby, Rose, Dembele, Eriksen, Son, Kane, all gone or injured. The era has finished, and what are Spurs left with a defence that cannot defend, no strikers, a midfield that is at best Championship level.
Last night even I will admit there were some bizzare decisions from the manager. As soon as I saw the starting XI, my heart dropped. Vorm in goal, WTF, a midfield of Skipp and Winks, that is not even Championship Standard, and absolutely nothing up front. And who decided on who takes the penalties? A pressure penalty was given to Parrott, who has not even had a shot on goal for the 1st XI, ridiculous that Gedson had to take one, when all the so called senior players hid.
It is patently clear, that whatever manager is in charge, the team is probably on par now with the very worse in the division. I really do not see where the next win in is coming from, with the present side, there is such a lack of quality in the side without players like Kane, Son, Eriksen, etc.
Following on from Chronic`s article, I would be putting a price on all the players, barring perhaps, Lo Celso, Kane, Son. Obvious a major, major spend is required. Although spending lots guarantees nothing, already wasted far too much on players like Ndombele, surely the biggest waste of money this club has ever spent, he is incapable of playing more than 30 minutes, same goes with Lamela.
Club needs to out all the sicknotes, absolutely of no use to Spurs. Scouting of new players needs to be better. At the moment, all of our new players look exactly the same, not very good, Lo Celso apart.
There is no point in really moaning about getting rid of the Chairman, Manager etc it aint happening. The players simply are not good enough, mentally the weakest bunch of players, just not very good footballers. A midfielder enforce is badly needed, and a captain who leads by example.
Unlike a lot on the site though, I shall always continue to support my club, through thick and thin, that is what is being a supporter is all about. I hate supporters that say boycott the club, demonstrate, only support the club through the good times. What is the point? It won`t solve a thing. By and large though the supporters I met at the ground, are still fully on board, obviously disappointed, but realise that the team is going through a major transition, and it won`t be all sweetness and light.

Poch was right. He said this squad needed changing. Levy sacked him then hired someone who said the same squad could win the league next year with minimum changes . I know who I think was right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well put
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Poch spent lots of money on not very good players, he broke the Spurs transfer record on a sicknote. He has nowhere to hide on buying and selling.
Just to remind everybody of some of Pochs` buys, Soldado, Janssen, N`Jie, N`Koudou, Aurier, Sanchez, N`dombele, Sessignon etc. Lots of money spent, and hardly a success story. His record in the transfer marker was awful in general.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't you love Aurier? At least try and keep up with your opinions
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do like Aurier, that does not mean he has been a big success, and cannot ever be criticised.

Hang on a moment.
Tottenham are still currently on a deep run in this year's Champions League, while still remaining well within touching distance of a qualifying spot for next season's competition. A situation that looked almost impossible at the tail-end of 2019 as the club's form spun out of control for 11 months under Poch.
Levy must be scratching his head and asking who died and made the Spurs faithful so miserable and despondent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We will not make top 4
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And who's going to stop you? Leicester have won something like 2 league games in 2020. Chelsea and United are as shaky as they've ever been. And Sheffield and Wolves are............... well, Sheffield and Wolves.
The league will never have a race to the Top 4 as easy as this.
Arsenal started their season in mid December and they're already within smelling distance, FFS.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sheffield United have an actual team who play for each other not a bunch of individuals who are poorly managed.
As for Wolves seeing as we didnt win until the 6th or 7th league game and are still only 3 points off the top 4 that seems a rather ignorant comment to make. Aside from maybe Lo Celso (who I haven't seen enough of) I don't think any of the players who started last nights game would make the Wolves first XI. Spurs without Kane and Son are mediocre.
You are correct about the top 4 being easier than previous years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wolves have won nothing, and having one half decent season don`t make them great. I was not impressed with them at the weekend. Spurs were awful, and any half decent Spurs team on their game would have beaten Wolves. They had four shots all game, and scored three times. I wouldn`t get to carried away. Decent side, nothing more.

Thought you rate Aurier? Also, you can't possibly say that Ndombele and Sessegnon are bad signings yet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I can mate, both have had nearly a season, and shown zilch. I will give them a bit more time. But both look a waste of good money.

Sanchez and Aurier are your two favourites as well

Dele is rubbish now, Son is injured and Toby is getting past it. I rest my case.

I do not believe in failing to support my club because of bad results but I am not prepared to endure watching such a totally negative approach from our manager, thats not football to me.
You told us all how great he would be for us sandy but he has been dreadful and his brand of football is awful.
I dont care if we win the prem playing in this negative manner I would rather see us come second and entertain than endure the crap we are watching at the moment.
Now admit it sandy YOU AND DON WERE WRONG, jose is not the man to rejuvenate or rebuild this team

Ever thought that perhaps the football is not that great is because he is missing his two main strikers. When he came in he was getting a tune out of the team, moreso than his predecessors. Now he has had to endure the loss of Kane, Son, Sissoko, who was just about our form player of the past 18 months, plus other countless injuries. So what do you really expect.
He will be judged when he has a full season, and all his best players at his disposal. Anybody thinking otherwise is extremely foolish and completely kneejerk. How do you know he cannot build the team Grandspur, he has had one small transfer window, then lost all his key players. Give him a chance fella, and stop just jumping on the ridiculous Jose out bandwagon.
You should really know better than to follow the modern want everything immediately modern football supporter. By your criteria Billy Nicholson would have been out on his ear at the end of his first season.
posted on 6/3/20
how can the two main strikers make the whole team press, show better movement and overall attacking intent? also how can they improve the mess of a midfield and defence? not to mention the football was as bad with Son and Kane in the team.
the striker issue is not a valid excuse for Jose and his 'tactics'.

Exactly Kane was out and Sissoko went off injured after 10 minutes when we went thru in the CL at Maine Road last season, lets not forget that, and we scored 3 times. With the tactics we are currently using we wont score 3 times in a month let alone a game.
