Cardboard Fans

I've occasionally been called a plastic armchair supporter so there's some gentle irony for me in season ticket holders being given the chance to become cardboard supporters by the club.

Whilst some might think it's a bit of a gimmick, I saw photos of German teams running to the fan cut-outs after scoring and I suppose it does give them something to focus on and makes it feel a little like the stadium isn't completely empty.

I had a thought - I wonder if the club only allows photos of the ticket holder to be used? Wouldn't it be great if (for instance) we could have fans who are no longer with us up there seeing the season out. Fans such as Harj for example.

Obviously, this could be distressing to loved-ones so it would have to be done with permission and care, but wouldn't it be a nice sentiment if allowed?

Pags, at that cost I'd think most will be looking for a rebate!..

I have a season card here but that cost 199€ for the season, so, with only 4-or 5 home games left I've told them to keep it!..

We got the choice of giving the money to the club!..

Giving it to the club with 10% going into a pot to help local/amateur clubs!..

Or claim your money back!..

But prices here are nothing like the English game and I think most will be giving it up!..

And the cardboard cut outs cost 19/20€'s, the money isn't for the clubs and one payment keeps your board there until the season ends!..

I understand many will want to do it and that’s fair enough.

The cut-outs at Leeds cost £25 by looks of it so it’s costing me nearly £24 for LUTV? When I can watch most on Sky which I already have?

The players have only deferred wages, they’ve not given anything up and will be getting those “lost” wages back. I’ll have my ST money back .

If it was just me in the household maybe I’d feel different but £58 for LUTV is ridiculous.

£25 is a bit expenive for a piece of cardboard, easy money unless it goes to a charity to help clubs in difficulty, then I would not mind...

thats a good idea and any season ticket holder that doesn`t want their cutout in their seat it could go to an overseas fan. that might be the only way i get to elland road.

Nearly £200 from our household... why would we both subscribe to LUTV through this when we are in the same house... just for a £50 shop credit and a cardboard fricking cut out?

I’ll be having my fricking rebate.

So you could opt for different packages between you with only one getting LUTV etc, right?

We could opt for that but the LUTV option isn’t for us. I don’t buy programmes either.

I’d literally be bothered about getting a cardboard cutout. That’s it. And even then £25 is like wow.

The concessions package is great value though. No LUTV but £100 card for shop and the cardboard cutout or £60 odd back. No brainer really.

Cool, so it seems they have done a decent job of putting different options together which will appeal to different STHs?

Have other ST holders been contacted about a rebate or options yet? I’ve heard nothing.

"A specific email will be sent in the next few days to each individual Season Ticket holder (complimentary Season Tickets excluded) along with a link to an online form for supporters to complete and choose from one of the following rebate options.

The link and online form will be specific to the age category of your Season Ticket. The deadline to complete the online form is Friday 31st July 2020.

If fans do not respond by the deadline date then the club will automatically apply Option 1 and any rebates that have not been claimed will be donated to Support our Academy."
